So I did the odometer gear replacement with the kit from Odometergears.com-all's good on that front, but my tripmeter still won't reset.  Pulling it apart, it looks like the little spring-loaded pauls on each of the tripmeter wheels that engage with the slot in the reset shaft are broken/won't spring back.  What are the odds I can find working replacements from a donor Motometer, or do these fail pretty regularly?

I can’t answer your question but I have a question of my own as I just did my odometer gears a couple of days ago. How did you get the 12T gear off? It’s the one with the brass bushing inside it on the end of the shaft that goes through the odometer. I gave up, fearing that I was going to damage something.

I used a pair of small diagonal cutters and firmly compressed the bushing both longitudinally and across, turned the shaft a smidge, repeat...until it came off easily (I had to cut the gear off first-not hard mine was the consistancy of hard rubber).  Just don't yank on the shaft and make sure you support the motor shaft when you press the new gear on.  Really good instructions here:

Zaubertuba, last summer I came into a box full of instrument cluster parts including several speedometers with odometer and tripmeter parts.  Let me see if I can find some usable parts tomorrow.

Should have had a better look around their site. All my gears were fine-I was just doing it as a measure of prevention. Haven't decided if I want to pull the instrument cluster off again just to do that 12T gear. Thank you.
