In the past I've found extensions for the older K bike fenders, front and rear.  Simple attachment and the front keeps mud off the front of the engine while the rear is a great place to mount club stickers. Are they still available and who might have them? Checked MaxBMW's pages and couldn't find them listed. Any suggestions?

Thanks
J.

Martin's idea works great.  I've made two of them now and they are the best $1.25 I've spent on my bikes.Fender Extenders Dscn1714

The rear one does more than that. Before I installed one on my first K75 I would sometimes get a dirt line on the center back of my jacket when riding in the rain.

Here's the rear one for K75s/K100s:
https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/PartsSearch.aspx?&searchtype=undefined&parts=46622300140

Here's the rear one "kit' with mounting hardware:
https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/PartsSearch.aspx?&searchtype=undefined&parts=46%2062%202%20300%20239

Here's the front Pyramid Plastics one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/273798886876

I always apply RTV between the extender and the fender to keep dirty water from seeping through.

Looks good for the front. But for the rear think I might just opt for the store bought, even at $26.00. Well wonder what they charge for shipping.

It would be possible to make a rear if you had a heat gun. Make a cardboard template first before  bending the plastic.

Max BMW sells all parts with no tax and free shipping - regardless of order size.  I buy little part $2-3 parts from them all of the time. On top of that, Max also always includes a pack of M&Ms.

A&S near Sacramental also does no tax and free shipping.

Anyone come up with a design of mud flap for the front of the rear mudguard to stop road dirt plastering the rear of gearbox and clutch actuating arm?

I've never worried about that but you might be able to adapt the one from a 4V K.

Part #11 here:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0536-USA-09-1992-89V2-BMW-K_1100_LT_0526,_0536_&diagId=46_0227

(No, you can't just use the whole 4V inner rear fender because it is two pieces instead of one and attaches differently.)

I think they did it to protect the exhaust. On a 4V part of the exhaust is under/behind the transmission.

When I was building enduro/trials bikes in my misspent younger days we would get a used heavy duty truck inner tube and use the rubber to make all sorts of flexible baffles and flaps to divert water and mud from places where it would be somewhat inconvenient.

I would give that a try for a front mudguard on your rear wheel.  Because it's flexible, it is easy to knock the dirt and mud off.

Well that was an error. Seems it's going to take 3-5 weeks to get the part from Germany and sent to me from MAXBmw. Oh Well making the front one.

Don't be downcast, J. The M&Ms won't be coming from Germany; they will be fresh-batch replacements for those consumed during Halloween.  Fender Extenders 723598

M&M's? I gave out Reese's Chocolate cups as any left overs are for me. The kids got 2 bags and I got 2 bags. I'll take M&M's but Reeses  w peanut butter float my boat better.

Patience is a virtue. They can peel the outer layer of plastic in splotches and look a little bit off when they age.  IMO you're better off waiting for a new one from Der Fatherland.

Of course, I'm the awkward sod in the pile as usual. I made a front extender from a piece of 1.0 mm stainless steel, just long enough to keep the road crap off the pump. Someone further up the thread has now got me thinking about making an extender at the front of the rear mudguard to protect the clutch while LFB is down for a new wiring loom and a change of clothes. Why stainless? Because someone donated me an 8ft x 4ft sheet of it about thirty years ago and I still have around half of it left!

Hmm, now that makes sense. I was thinking of making one for the front. But the idea of destroying a perfectly good pail / bucket turned me off it. But a used oil container. Not Bad recycling.

Don't hold your breath Very Happy I thought I'd take a couple of months off between contracts and get LFB (re)finished but it hasn't worked out that way. Instead, I've gone from on-site IT support to building PC game assets for a company in Austria. Working from home, yes; but also very full time.
