a few have enquired with Smithy about this years northern tablelands ride

it seems that Craig will be out of action as he will be recovering from some medical procedures which were delayed due to another viral infection leaving not much time between surgery and november .

So best i could come up with is a suggestion at least, to see if anyone may be interested.

proposal

day 1 > meet at Bendemeer Pub (we had a great night last time there )  and folks seemed pretty happy with accommodation etc
day 2>  head back down the hill taking the Nemingar ( just before Tamworth) turnoff towards Nundle proceeding past Dungowan and up the Port Stephen pass then to Walcha for Lunch .

after Lunch down the Oxley to Longflat then Warchope , and onto Taree for an overnighter down there.

day3 > head home,
ill be travelling up the waterfalls way to Dorrigo then Guyra if other want to tag along

a few things need to be sorted Ie: accommodation at Bendemeer and find a Hotel - accommodation for a stay at Taree , perhaps Stan may be positioned to know of a reasonable place down there.

Taree will give a reasonable away-return point for those returning south.

at this point im thinking of november 12th and 13th , which will give us a bit less than a month to get it together .

so what's your thoughts ?

Dates are good for me as the preceding week and weekend appear to be booked.

Last weekend in November is also pre-booked.

Bendemeer Pub on the Friday night?  They do a good Brekky there.

I'm not sure if I can make it.
My K1100 has to be repaired after my little off at the Far Cairn Rally and I have 3 busted ribs that have to heal from the said K1100 falling on top of me.
Mt G650X is still in 2 pieces after getting an upgraded set of forks.
It doesn't look like I'll be putting that back together until my ribs heal up.

No good for me either, I'm afraid.
I went up from Nemingha through Port Stephens Cutting two weeks ago and the road surface is pretty good. Some minor rain damage but much better than Thunderbolt's  or Waterfall Way. ( Less traffic I suppose).
Have fun!

aww sad ulli sean and al ...

some feedback from stan

I have checked around a little and some of the pubs in Taree are dodgy for security of bikes. Other accommodation is expensive because of tourists. I suggest  the Coopernook pub in Coopernook which is a tiny place just north of Taree. It is about one kilometre off the highway on the river...on its own, away from everyone. Spoke with a bloke there and he says it is very secure and usual pub style rooms, shared bathrooms etc. Cost $60 to $70 a room, but cheaper if booking a few. They have security cameras and allow caravans to park there for free.
Haven't stayed there, but it is very quiet spot.
If you decide on it you can go for a ride to Crowdy Head which is past Harrington. The turn off to there is very close to the turn off to Coopernook, except you turn east instead of west.
Hope this is of help to you.
Am disappointed that I can't make it.

My commiserations Charlie. For those passing through Uralla, NSW the favoured place for the static speed camera vehicle is on the western side of the New England Highway between the caravan sales yard and the Puma service station. Another hot spot for highway patrol activity is the 60 kph zone near Armidale airport.
