In my quest to put wider rims on my K100 I have tracked down a pair of K1100RS wheels and forks at a good price.
Beachcomber's bad influence!
Problem arises in that the front has hit a kerb and is dented slightly.
Has anyone experience in having bike rims repaired. See places advertising that they can do it but wondered how safe it is.

Sorry, it's not a reply to your question, but that would be a 160 rear tyre right? That fit's the old 2V K's??? That should be pretty off-center... Wheel swap question Confused

Hi Alex. Thanks for the input but this subject was discussed on the 'other' forum and according to beachcomber, the hub of the wheel in relation to the rim is the same for all K's. I believe BMW allow a tolerance of 5 mm as well. I think beachcomber has installed a K1200RS wheel in his K100 cafe racer.
However, you have spooked me and I will double check.

Yeah, maybe Beachy can chip in on this here as well...

I think I found the post:

'Fitments to my K100RS and K1100RS -
K1200S front wheel with 120 section
R1150S 5" [ K100 ] and 5.5" [ K1100] rear with 180 section.'

WOW!!!
Beachy, can you post some pics and make some comments on how it rides and so forth?

I did my own, I put soap on the inside of the rim-heated it from the other side with a big blow torch, when soap goes black-rim up to temp and is annealed .

Then i held the wheel with some wood on the outside to stop us going too far and my bro`in law bashed it with a sledge hammer(little hammer no good) until it was straight.
Good luck
Ray

That's sounds scary. Not sure I would trust my hammer skills there but the whole idea seems sound.
