I've just tried a non genuine oil filter and the goods and price seem OK. For around $13 AU you get an oil filter, O ring, sump plug washer and two other washers. The filter is SAKURA, part no C-30040 and I bought it locally from Mark at Speeds Truck and Ag 02 68840184.Thanks Ainsjac

Ainsjac, I've used Ryco Z418 (Supercheap, Auto One, Repco etc) and I've had no problems at all. They fit like a glove and nothing weird has happened when I've used them.

The oil filter removal tool also fits the Ryco filters.

I reuse the big O ring and the washers and I've had no oil leaks.

Just be really careful that the old filter o ring doesn't get left behind when removing the filter...

Some folks don't even remove the sump plug because they're removing the filter cover and the oil drains from there.

That Sakura oil filter is a direct replacement for a BMW 11 42 1 460 845 which is the OEM part number for our bike's oil filter, and all R1100/1150 Oilheads too.
