Hi all, back to restoring Old Blue, my '86 K100. And I seem to have misplaced the (what I call a turnbuckle fitting) where the throttle cable goes into the right hand throttle and brake controls and takes up the slack. See the photo below I took of Red's. But I've been searching RealOEM and MAXBMW and I can't find the part or more importantly it's part number to try and order one. Anyone have any idea of the number?. I'm hoping I can get it alone as by my last count I have 4 or 5 of the cables themselves. You can see the throttle cable entering from the left and going through the adjusting turnbuckle which is what I'm inquiring about. Thanks.

Point-Seven-five,
thanks. When you say Parts fiche are you speaking of an on-line parts-fiche or the old fashioned transparency? Which strangely enough I do have one of the old readers with parts fiche but for different models. BTW, is my terminology "Turnbuckle" correct do you think?
best regards

It's the MaxBMW online parts lists.

https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsMain.aspx?vid=51754&rnd=09082020

Go to the Steering section and look under drawing #32_0773 "Bowden Cable"

Hello Point-Seven-five,
I went back to MaxBMW, as I indicated I had searched both MaxBMW and RealOEM, and both show the parts which are at the lower end of the throttle cable but not the part which fits into the right hand control unit per the photo. I suspect there was a model revision or some thing like that. But both of my K75's have the bush/adjuster/nut going into the right hand throttle unit which is not what MaxBMW or RealOEM show. I'm not sure but I suspect these are not the pieces which are needed.Without the pieces at the throttle control unit the cable just slides into the throttle control unit. So the bush/adjuster/nut are needed at the throttle control unit. Does that make sense? So I'm suspecting a mixup somewhere along the line. But Unless the units you cited are also used at the upper end I still need the pieces. Wonder if the shops might have them?

best regards
J.

It's looking like I misread the online microfiche. The bike itself I suspect falls into the middle of the transition period and I'm trying to figure out how to mung it all together. Thanks for help. I'll just restudy it until something makes sense.
best regards
J.

Are you looking at the exploded diagram on the MaxBMW parts list?  That diagram will confuse you because the parts I listed don't actually go on the lower end as the diagram implies.  If you look at the part photos that MaxBMW shows you will see that the parts are the ones in your photo.

Obviously I'm not understanding you. Most likely my error. But I've been looking at the "exploded diagram", i.e. "Diagram #32_0773". And yes I'm beginning to understand that that only part #6 goes down below and it's possible parts 3,4, &5 are at the upper end. "part photos"?? Where are those? The blow ups?

Problem originates in that Old Blue still has the original throttle cable with the adjuster 1 foot down from the throttle body. Whatever keeper that was originally in place to prevent the cable from going up into the throttle body has been lost during the disassembly, frame powder coating process. It might be lying around just waiting for me to recognize it. But not knowing what it looks like it may continue to be lost. One thought that has crawled through my mind in between shots of pain is that the original adjuster might be substituted for the upgraded parts at the hand throttle end. To be tried. OR purchase the new parts. I do have the lower piece still on my parts bike. just wrestle it out of its pan of oil and unscrew it.
thanks
J.

They are in the parts list below the diagram. Each photo can be enlarged by clicking on it.

So I'm looking at alternative solutions i.e. going through piles of used parts and I'm trying to get a handle on the possibilities. So Please Correct Me.

In addition to the throttle cable there is the choke (engine advance) cable and the clutch cable. It appears that these cables may share the types of cable adjuster and knurled head nuts:
32 72 1 234 854  CABLE ADJUSTER
32 72 1 232 516  KNURLED HEAD NUT - M10X1

This is of interest as I am going to go searching through my friend's pile of cables, adjusters etc searching for a throttle cable adjuster setup and it would be helpful to know what the range of possibilities are and I'm trying to be able to identify the various bits easily. Of course he has more AirHead parts than K but he does have K parts as I've purchased a few off of him.
