Hey all,

New rider from Vermont here.

Purchased a well used K100 back in January, after looking into the bike's history and seeing this community built around it. After three months between full time college and work... still not moving, but it sure did want to turn over. Looking forward to fixing the fatal flaw (oil & water pump leak) and getting it on the road this summer!

I plan on going through all the old parts and making sure it's in top shape before doing some modifications to it. I'm not an experienced mechanic but I'm blessed to have plenty in my life. Glad to be a part of this forum!New K100 RS Owner Img_2611

Welcome to the world of the Flying Brick. You'll find your bike is easy to work on. I recommend you invest in a Haynes manual.
Very Happy Col

Welcome!  From personal experience I would recommend the Chilton manual over the Haynes.  The Clymer manual has better illustrations and to me the writing is clearer.

be careful when ordering parts!
early/late model 1985 K100rs are not the same. ask me how I know 👍
yours looks to be 1986 newer.
if i remember it was up to june 85’ or after when ordering for a k100RS.
look to max bmw website for details and have the vin and build date handy when ordering.

Easiest clue is early tank is bolted using a single bolt under the front of the seat.
