Hello, looking for a straight K100 sidestand.
Mine supports the bike at a rather too rakish angle and I can’t straighten the beggar!

The stands do have a natural bend. However some do have a rather alarming lean which can be countered. The fork that the stand fits into can open up and the pivot bush and or bolt can also wear, both these problems can be fixed. Fitting a block of rubber or aluminium to the foot of the stand can also be a solution. Ice hockey pucks rubber boat rollers can be cut up and repurposed.
Regards Martin.

The K100 always lean over a fair way and the sidestand has a bend from new. If you put a spacer under each of the 4 bolts holding it to the gearbox, 10mm, that will help.

Regardless of what is worn in the sidestand, bear in mind that the lean angle it inspires is intentional.

The height of the seat and the fact that the bikes are so top heavy makes mounting difficult, especially for those who are short of stature.  That extreme lean the bike has on the sidestand makes it possible for short persons(especially older ones) to swing a leg over the seat.

The intentional lean works well in the US and the EU and other LH drive countries. It doesn't work so well in OZ and maybe the UK and other RH drive countries. OZ has  highly cambered roads which can lead to scary angles when parking. I'm not sure if UK roads have their roads highly cambered.
Regards Martin.

Perhaps I need to start working out as sometimes I cannot raise the 'brick' off the side stand while mounted. Only solution; dismount, walk the bike to where the lean angle is less extreme, remount and try again. (It is as if the older I get, the heavier the 'brick' gets!!)

I've replaced both the bolt and pivot bush. Neither led to an improvement. When I tried adding material under the foot, I found it got caught with the main-stand in the up position and couldn't be deployed.

The first thing to do is to determine how thick a spacer you need. I used various thickness of wood under the foot until I found the angle I wanted, the bike should have some lean.  The key to fitting the spacer is to trim it roughly to size and then tape it in place. Then retract the stand and observe what hits, then trim and try again. Once you have it at the right size mark and drill the holes you will have to countersink the bolts into the spacer. I use Allen bolts inserted from the bottom with the nuts on top. I've done a few on mates bikes some out of a rubber boat roller and some out of aluminium.
Regards Martin.

G'day All, I now have a G650GS which I thought was leaning over too far on the sidestand. Solution was as per Martin's but using an old or well used kitchen cutting board.
It works a treat . Only thing was I was not too choosy about colour of cutting board. Cheers Tom

Tom what's left of my sacrificial cutting board. It was about $6.00 from a local cheap shop, and at the time it came in various colours.
Regards Martin.

Yep you are right Martin but I am of the stingy type and snaffled a green cutting board from my workplace. There were no black ones available. Beggars can't be choosers.
The foot under the sidestand was raised about 24mm which made a huge difference when parking the bike. I have difficulty in placing the bike on the centrestand when fully loaded.
Cheers Tom

My cutting board is only 10mm thick. Boat rollers can be cut to any thickness and were cheap at the time $1.00 each and they were new from the local dump recycle. I've also used 12mm cast aluminium plate.
Regards Martin.
