Hi all, just thought I would share my K100 cafe racer project. Very new to the BMW bike scene.
Had plenty of bikes over the years but always fancied a K100 after a ride on a friends in the mid 80’s.
After loads of fast road bikes I decided I needed a change and just wanted something engineered well, reliable and shaft drive, so the BMW sprung to mind.
It didn’t take me long to find a donor bike and after a few days I bought a 87 RT from Brisbane.
My plan is to do the engineering work and layout first then drop the engine etc and send the frame and wheels for powder coat while I strip the engine and check for wear.
My wish list includes:
Swap the exhaust from to other side of the bike and leave the wheel open.
Chop the seat down to single and tail unit housing battery.
New bars clocks and warning lights.
Lots of nice bikes on here and the web so plenty of inspiration.
Will post pics as I progress.
