Hey all,

Although a member for quite some time, I never made an effort to introduce myself. Apologies for such rudeness so I hope to repair that a little by this post.

For a brief stint in my early bike career, I did ride a Kawasaki Ninja for a short while. Blame it on juvenile ignorance or whatever, but my world opened up when I got my first K1100RS ('94). Started with plm. 40K km and rode it until close to 190K km's before it really was at the end of it's life. This repeated two more times with K1100RS bikes of different ages. I think I've accumulated over 450K km's on these three bikes and as such, these have become a way of life for me.

Currently at 55 years of age I am faced with a weekly commuting of about 200 km's one way. Don't do this on a daily basis but try to restrict this to twice a week. The RS turned out to be a bit 'too sporty' for my back at those distances, so decided to make a huge step forward and buy my first 1996 K1100LT. Sitting upright, windscreen, luxury...what a world of difference with the RS. Feels a bit like I'm abandoning my first 'RS' love but each trip shows me I made the right choice.

This community feels very much at home as I know I have met friends with love for the same bikes as I love. That's great and although I've been leeching for a while, I already learned so much from just reading the posts, the comments and the shared wisdom of the crowd. Thank you all,

Greetz from the Netherlands,
Rene

Welkom Rene. The k1100rs is one of the most beautiful fairings in my opinion but the LT is master of comfort and all weathers. I used my LTs for commuting in the city when I first started on K’s. Depending on what you need to bring a set of city cases can be handy if filtering is allowed over there.
