Good Morning All,
I'm cheating here a little by joining the group. We were previously owners of a K100RS, purchased in 1985 and eventually sold with 110,000 miles as we bought a newer model to fit a Flexit Sidecar to. The reason being the arrival of a little bundle of fun (or daughter) so we needed 3 seats.
For those of you not familiar with the Flexit, it is a fully enclosed leaning sidecar. You ride it in the same manner as a solo.
Sadly, we found that the engine vibrations from the K100 carried through to the Flexit, and with the screen closed produced a bad 'body boom'. Unfortunately, no end of attempts to dampen this failed and eventually we moved to a Honda ST1100 for the sidecar to fit on. This wasn't without much heart-rending, we loved our K's.
Anyway, to the point of this message. Courtesy of Covid I have spent a lot more time surfing the net than I normally would and the other night came across a topic on this site referring to the Flexit sidecar. The member 'DadofHedgehog' was bemoaning the demise of the Flexit Sidecar Owners Yahoo Group. If he is still a member of this group I can let him know that it has, sort of, been resurrected by one of the previous group's American Members. It is in a slightly different form, but I know that there are several K100 owners on the site who could perhaps be of help to him.
The link to the new forum is as follows https://groups.io/g/flexitsidecarownersgroup
I hope the owner (and membership) of this site doesn't mind me using it in this way. Besides, now I know it exists I might just lurk around a while. We did love our K100RS after all
If I can, I will stick a photo of our Flexit on the gallery (attached to the K, of course!)
