Well that's very nice - especially the fairing.
I think the 'proddie racer/endurance racer' is a nice variation on the cafe racer theme. The big and tall Laverda RGS/Exup thing has got a style all of its own.
Trying to identify the fairing. It says Schnitzer on it, but if it's sourced from another bike then you should let the guys on this forum play 'spot the fairing' for a while...

Very nice. Puts me in mind of the 70s Le Mans bikes.

Beautiful!!! Do you have any photos documenting the build. The bodywork is really nice. Very well done.

Before I got my first K, a K100LT back in 2010 my shopping list had been a Ducati or a Le Mans. K did not feature on my list at all.
Someone persuaded me I should try on, so I did and ended up buying it. Loved it and bought more Ks since to the point that my car has been parked up since early 2017 after finding that adding a K1100LT negated the need for it. I still have them all.
I still hanker after such Le Mans and the fact that there are quite a lot of them not too far from me keeps them in the frame. But a K1 barely run in and not far from me sitting in a shed also keeps on my radar.
So, back to the K100LT. It needs some extensive body restoration but I have all the parts, same colour fairing thanks to 88 here, absolutely everything needed and the fact that it's so late means it may be the highest frame number left out there, only about 60 more made after it kind of keeps me on that path.
But I love this build, looks like its done nicely but avoids cutting the frame rear loop meaning i6s reversible.
Having just got my son's 2005 VFR back on the road last night after he did a very nice refresh on it and very enjoyable test rideout yesterday evening for us puts this back up the list. He did most of tough bits, but it involved fork springs, painting forks, wheels, and engine covers, changing brake lines, oil lines, plus a host of other things, centre stand and changing lots of fastenings, the usual full service, tyres etc etc. So, he is offering to get at my K100LT.
Decisions, decisions....fek it am going to take the 83 RS out today and see if this makes it any easier. It had some nice fun on Tuesday, Tesla drivers seem to feel they have something to prove, such as these almost 40 year old vunderbikes are streets quicker and more fun on our nice curvy roads and don't seem to run out of steam at 120...or 130. Thing is, these early 2v engines are on a different planet from the later K engines. Maybe the answer is find another 83 RS and do it on that.
Delirium over.

Not to hijack a thread...(but here goes)....care to elaborate? Im about to embark on a build to make use of a shed full of parts....however there is one new acquisition that its built around....a 1200 engine....mated to that will be an 1100 frame and forks and a 100 mono lever with 1200 wheels each end.

I made my comment in relation to the steel frame Ks that go only up to K1100.
K1200 has a different system and I believe gets much more out of the K engine.
I mostly run the 83 K100~RS, 84 K100RT and the K1100LT alongside so all get run one after the other. K1100LT yesterday, 83 K100RS today. All are in a good state of clean injectors etc.
83/84 K engines have a vacuum sensor. 83 engines [and some early 84 it seems] also have 'engineering screws on the cam cover. I had been aware of the fact that early ones are regarded as different and having the 84 RT straight after the 92 K100LT found it significantly more lively and responsive. So, I assumed that as it. But, then running the 83 RS that I bought simply because it had an old local registration plate [our system changed in December 86] found it o be ever more different.
Seems the earlier camshafts are in the ones that have the engineering screws. Same part no, just quietly changed in the changeover to unleaded fuel and emissions controls, early K engines predate all that.
That early 2v engine is unbusy compared to the the K1100LT, lots of torque and 31/11 final drive, same as the K1100. The K100RT and LT are 32/11. I love it, that RS has got better fuel economy than the RT and K100LT too, nearer to the K1100. If you like the idea of a quicker sprint K100RS change to K100 32/11 or 33/11 or a K75 32/10 but it pulls the 31/11 no bother at all. If you like even more different ratios there are many other final drives from other R models that fit inside these monolever and paralever final drive casings.

I'm running a 32/11 at the rear with K1100 throttlebodies and 6 degrees of advance. It makes a standard RS feel... slow.
