Hi all,
I will introduce myself with a short story on my project so far. The gist of er' I am trying to take my k and bring it gracefully into 2020, that includes modern ABS, Engine management, keyless go... you name it, I probably have a plan for it.
I have been an owner of a k100 for about 2 years now. I bought it for 500 dollars in a very sorry state of affairs', the frame was rusty and all body panels/seat missing, with the exception of one side panel. The saving grace: it ran, well, sort of, vacuum leaks galore, but it ran. The previous owner had welded (very badly) an ugly crossmember for some modification that never came to fruition, so when I stripped the frame of paint and rust I cut that back off and ground it down smooth again. For now the frame is painted but in the future I plan to have it done in black powder coat once the rear bow is welded in place. While I had it apart I also replaced rings, head gasket, and checked valve clearance. Now I have decided to switch the bike over to an MS3PRO Evo engine control unit/M-unit blue combo.
I figured I would join the forum to share my knowledge on modern EFI conversions regarding K bikes. If anyone was interested in what it takes to perform such an overhaul, I have scoped out the various parts that are needed/mods that must be done. My project is currently in the wiring stage, in fact I just finished the injector wiring and testing today, and soon I will be moving on to the TPS sensor, IAT, CLT and coil wiring.
Here are a couple photos of the project right now. Its not particularly pretty yet but that's the last thing on my list right now.
Cheers, Wiz
