Hi,
I am about to bid for a 1991 K1100 Flasher unit. Do you know if it will fit a 1986 K100?

Hi Ned,
Don't know off the top of my head but take a look on someone like Real OEM that has spare parts with the full exploded diagrams which gives part numbers and look both up if the part number is the same you have got the answer.
Regards,
K-BIKE

got one for $45 delivered. I figure that it will be a good spare if my current problem proves to be something else. My blinkers randomly stop working and regain full function again randomly. I can't find a pattern so I suspect that the flasher unit is playing up.

Stupidly I hesitated a few day ago, I could have got the whole set of relays for $50... oh well, live and learn.

Hi there, I had a similar problem. The flasher unit has two relays soldered to the circuit board, the welds tends to crack and causes intermitent failures. Easy to fix.
Best regards
JAP

Thanks for the tip.
I guess Ned will be mad if he finds the soldering being the problem.

Thanks JAP. I will check tonight.

A trap for young players :

1. my Flasher unit arrived, got changed, worked for about 10 sec and stopped, just like the old one. Sad
2 my first though was that I just wasted my money and time, but had to find the fault, so I got on with it.
3. looked at the interactive diagram in colour and couldn't find the problem as all usual suspects and plugs worked just fine.
4. decided to look at the fuse, and sure enough the fuse in question (#3 from memory) felt very loose in the receptacle.
5. wire brush cleaned all spades on all fuses and put the whole thing together.
6. it all works just fine now. So I quickly did a rego (MOT? or whatever you call it) check.

Yes, I did waste my money and time, but the fuse never entered my mind because the problem was INTERMITENT and fuses fail catastrophically. Oh, well. The moral of the story ... check fuses first! Also must invest in the ... you guessed it ...a can of DEOXIT! Smile

No worries,
I just hope that no one minds my bullet point summary. My attention span is that of a gnat, so quick summary suits me better.
