It has been suggested we organise a ride for the Kweensland K's in the next few months.

A proposed route is,

Day 1 - brisbane to Dululu campgrounds.  Camping ground free with BBQ's,  showers  and loo's 590 K's 6 Hr 44 min the longest leg.

Day 2 -Dululu to Workmans beach camping ground Agnes Waters 3 Hr's 264 K's 30 mins longer to go via Rocky.

Day 3 Agnes Waters to Hervey  Bay either Susan River Homestead Adventure Resort Campground or Colonial Village Camp.

Day 4 - Hervey bay to home 3 Hr 12 Min 268 K's via Wallu.

All stops are within a days ride of brissy for those that can't do the 4 days. Lots of water and touristy things to see and other than the first day plenty of time to kick back or explore the locales.

Any suggestions for dates/alternative routes/locations/accommodations or linking up with other events welcome.

Also chasing an appropriate name for the run...trying to avoid triple K in title for obvious reasons.

Mick if you don't want tp go down the highway first off. You can go via Kilcoy, Nanango,Goomeri . But it's longer.

A little side trip on the road your looking at taking is the Booldoonda historic rail tunnel  

It is a gravel road  but well maintained 

I know how much you love the dirt  but even Harley D can get there

Looks good Matt. Route not set in stone so good chance we'll get there. Lots of waterfalls, beaches and historic sites around the area and lots of time (except for 1st day) for side trips/route changes.

Maybe need to take your GS for this one.

Still thinking about timing. Want to avoid the Southern ride dates as some may have plans to attend this.

I will leave it out to the forum for a week or so for feedback, have a chat with Martin and the boys and see if we can harden up the dates.

As discussed at the recent gathering, we are looking at early May for this trip if we are to avoid school and public holidays and the road congestion and difficulty finding accommodation. The 4 days was also mentioned as being a bit hard for some - work/family etc.

How about we 'tack on' to the Maleny swap meet? One suggestion below

Friday 13/3 - Brisbane to Maleny (for those that can get away early) camp at Swap meet.
Sat 14/3 - Brisbane to Maleny in the a.m. for those that couldn't get away Friday. Leave Swap meet around lunchtime for a 3-4 hr run to ?somewhere?...how about Inskip/Rainbow Beach or Tin Can Bay/Hervey Bay - camp overnight
Sun15/3 ?somewhere? back to Brisbane the long way...with no dirt roads!!

Another suggestion given was that myself, Martin and Paul may be incompetent due to cognitive decline to be road captains/navigators. A certain 'young gun' with a smashed up SE had previously displayed outstanding leadership and organisational capacity (other than one dirt road) and perhaps would be better suited to leading the expedition......

So we could turn this into a 4 day weekend pretty easy 

Or a three day run  if time is a problem

Haven't had much feedback at all...Think maybe its better to set a date and they will come..

So the long weekend of the 4th of May...unless any other suggestions..

A few of the Brisbane/SEQLD riders will be at the swap meet on Sat - so maybe an item for discussion and nailing down dates routes and duration.

As we cant ride south to join up with the  NSW / Vic riders how about we do a QLD only  - 4 day ride on the  new Ekka long weekend  now that the government has moved it to Friday the 14th of Aug  + one extra day Monday the 17th

Where and what time Sunday?
I''m interested in the Northern Ride.
I'd rather go via Goomeri (good bacon & egg rolls at the BP) than up the Bruce Hwy.
I'd also like to add the Rockhampton loop from Dululu as I've camped at Dululu many a time (but not since the pub burnt down) but never ridden into Rocky from there.

We are meeting on Sunday at the BP between Northlakes and Caboolture Northbound at 0700. I'm not sure exactly where we are going for Sundays ride - usually a loop off highway - Daigular/Woodforde/Landsborough locale.

For the Kweensland ride in (now in August), nothing has been set in stone, some suggestions on the thread.

We will try to avoid the M1 where ever possible as none of us enjoy riding on the main highway.

So far for this Sunday we have MartinW, StandardK, Matthew-Brisbane, Paul and me and yourself and anyone else up to 10 pax.

Started with 6 K's at 7ish at the Servo just south of the Caboolture turnoff. Up the Daigular Hwy to Woodforde.

After a bit of stuffing around (no one knew the turnoff that we have only been down 5 of 6 times before!!) we ended up in Kilcoy. One rider called it a day at this point. We then noticed Matt was missing. Found him down the highway minus 2 mirrors.

Back to Kilcoy ably led by Dan up the Jimna range to . Lots of twists and an occasional bit of gravel, Boulder, tree branch and pothole, just to make it interesting when you were about to amp it up a bit round the corners.

Stopped at the infamous Bellthorpe/Woodforde dirt track for a break and a bullshit. Matt had a glint in his eye about going up the dirt a bit, but was frowned down by the rest of the group.

Refueled in Kilcoy and then Matt took the lead for a good run via Neerum, Villenueve to come out at Delaneys Creek. He got his bit of dirt in with about 2km of lightly gravelled dirt - only one wobble. Headed up Mt Mee to the Pitstop Cafe for a feed and coffee - beautiful view and good bacon and egg rolls.

We then headed down the Mountain to Dayboro and went our separate ways home.

Another good day out with the Brissie crew. Thanks Dan and Matt for taking charge and leading us on a fun run.

I know some of the other fellas took some photos, so hopefully  some will appear.

A couple of those early K's look far too clean - I'd be embarrassed to park next to them.

By the way, how did that top box with the lid open survive the run? Great design by BMW having the lid of those small top boxes open from the front.

Gaz that's not the top box lid it's a electronically deployed spoiler that deploys  automatically to aid cornering.
I found out that the catch won't lock down if in the lock position even when pushed right down. No damage only to my pride, but now I know.

So this multi ride is just a Month away with four starters at the moment  anyone else want to add their name  ?

We have decided the first stop was a bit long so suggested first stop is now Mulgildie Hotel which has rooms and camping available if we're quick in booking 5Hr 15min. Second day Agnes Waters via Rockhampton 5 Hr 18min. Heaps of choices on accommodation choices.  3.5 hrs to third night at Hervey Bay heaps of choices for accommodation. The run to home should take 3-4 Hrs depending on where home is. We now need input on suggestions for accommodation whether you wish to camp, cabin, hostel, pub, resort and how many are coming. The trip is open to further suggestions.

I'm disappointed that we cant stay in the Mulgidie Pub the photos on the web  showing the room's containing the 1970 crochet knitted bed spread would have reminded me of my childhood. Don't know how it has lasted the 50 years of ringers and shearers using this pub accommodation.

But on a serious note are we camping  at all ?  or is this all  single bed style accommodation hotel rooms

Matt no camping, we each get our own beds unless you want to share with Mick. You'll need to talk it over with him.

The accommodation booked is all 'separate beds and a roof' as suggested, so no camping this trip. Free up your panniers for your expresso machine

After receiving booking confirmation for Friday night in Monto Colonial Inn, noted that beds were a single and a double and following inquiry, they have no rooms with 3 separate beds.

Not wanting to explore my sexuality (or anybody else's) at this stage of life, I have taken the liberty to change the accommodation for the first night to a cabin at the Monto Caravan and Cabin Park.

About $30 more expensive but happy to pay for the peace of mind


So all set and ready to roll.
