After a clean up I’m going to reinstall the original hagons to my leading links. Question: Should I lube the mounting bolts? I’m seeing conflicting advice about do it or not. In the past I’ve slapped axle grease onto the bolts, which I think now has been pretty useless. I’m minded to use a bit of the high moly content lube that I use for the splines. Thoughts please?

Either the Optimol or copaslip. Both will help prevent corrosion and enable easier dismantling. I think Arlina believes you are refering to the rubber bushes; in which case if you need to lubricate those to reassemble the links, use silicon grease only. If your Hagons have the metal bushes in the rubbers, then see above.  If you don't grease them you will grind through the bush.

I haven't got a clue why you wouldn't use some form of anti-corrosion grease on assembly. I want my bolts to come out again, not rust in solidly. If you don't copaslip stainless bolts into aluminium, there's an electrolytic weld straight away.

+1 on what Dai says regarding the white Castrol Optimol. I use a lot of stainless bolts on my bikes and started using the Optimol on the threads to guard against the electrolytic action and now use it on pretty much everything and with no problems.

I only use Rubber Grease on any rubber components.

Cheers
