Well here is my introduction.
I'm a welder/ fabricator who has worked in the food processing industry for many years, with lots of side fabrication on everything from 980CI drag cars to air ride caddys, drift cars, open wheel formula cars and fully prepped rally cars. I've raced hill climbs and taught driving schools, but am fairly new to motorcycles. Always said I wasn't mature enough to survive riding.. But finally realized I never will be so might as well just get to it!
Currently riding a '01 Ducati ST4 and a '94 Suzuki TS200R. I've been looking for a project bike for a while and was attracted to the familiarity of the BMW k series bikes. Coming from a BMW and Volkswagen automotive background there seems to be a lot on these bikes that just seems right to me. I have picked up a Barn find basket case of a 1986 k100Rt that hasn't been turned over in at least 3 years but seems to be complete but beat up cosmetically. The bike comes from a BMW tech who picked it up years ago from a customer who laid it down in a gravel alley and gave up on it. The tech just never got around to doing anything with it, so now it will be my time waster! The plan is to ditch all the broken fairings and create a simple and clean cafe racer/ scrambler type of naked bike. not totally sure what it will turn out like, looking for some inspiration here! Everything is open, from front end swaps to turbocharging... just looking to turn a nearly scrapped bike into something personal and unique.
