Another one in favour of reporting him. I auctioned a Metz Mecablitz flashgun some years ago, starting at £0.99p. Retail, they were £120+ and heading north. I got £0.99p for it. So what? I quite happily wrapped it up and sent it off to its new owner because that's the way the cookie crumbles on an auction site. I didn't want it, which is why it was on ebay.
Also: a salutory tale on why you don't piss ebay off. A number of years ago there was a seller on ebay called ditchpimp1 (!!!) who had a 100% feedback rating and sold a whole range of hard-to-get Moto Guzzi parts. A number of times I went after something, only to find that within ten minutes of the auction ending, 'this item is no longer available'. A few of those and I figured it was because he wasn't getting the prices he wanted. After he did that to me for the fourth or fifth time (IIRC correctly it was a sump extension with external filter - Yamaguzzi will know about these. Normal retail then approx £130, my one-and-only bid was about a tenner). Thoroughly fed up with this behaviour, I reported him with chapter and verse for this item and suggested that they back-check on his previous auctions because there was a pattern here.
A few days later his account disappeared.
