New EBC clutch plate came with instructions on the box:

Can you imagine going to all that work to end up with an oil soaked clutch. It might be worth pointing it out to EBC just to see what they say.
Maybe they will send you a new friction disk.

What is "Drivecase oil"? Is it normal engine oil? Never heard it called that, if that is what it is.

I have not heard the term either but I assumed it to mean the gear oil that usually inhabits the gearbox.
Seems to me that someone is just following instructions even if they don't make sense.

EBC isn't about to print a special run of boxes for the few sorry consumers that have dry clutches. Smile
They're conserving ink, boxboard and labor.

It's the same conservative ethos that governs BMW's using a drawing of a z-hose in the engine block parts diagram of a 4V Brick. They both must figure that the purchaser should know what it looks like and how to install it or they shouldn't be buying it in the first place. Laughing

Pre-unit British bikes where the engine and the gearbox were completely separate. You had to put a small amount of oil in the primary chaincase (drive case) to lubricate the chain between engine and gearbox (primary chain). Sometimes it was the same grade as the engine oil, other times it was slightly thicker. If it was slightly thicker then the chaincase was self-contained, otherwise the excess oil vented back into the crankcases. Damn covers inevitably leaked because hamfisted owners tightened them into warping.

Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane - NOT! Always follow manufacturer's instructions 44271

In the rush to market, accuracy can be a casualty—as the EBC box and this Castrol ad demonstrate—but somehow it all works out in the end, except for strict constructionists. Laughing
