A nice early start at Matt’s place had the BBQ and the neighbours sizzling (thanks for the B&E rolls chef) followed by first K on the stand, Mick’s RS booked in for a tune. Thanks Olaf, it was a much appreciated addition. Maybe you could hand deliver the next one, you and the pud would be most welcome. Matt is incommunicado down south at the moment, we'll discuss the next workshop subject when he surfaces. Possibly about fitting headlight relays, although other subjects could be on the agenda. If anybody has any suggestions or requests  please post.

I have many invites to travel down under and yes it would be lovely.

Despite some intrepid adventures on bicycles, motorbikes, offshore sailing, paragliding et al, 24 hours on a plane isn't one of my strong points having done a few years of flying commuting.

That could change at some point though....there have been quite a few very tempting offers to fly me and a few tonnes of puddings........

One of my must visit places is Sydney Opera House and it has just closed for 2 years for renovations.......my kids have a habit of sending me to opera houses for special occasions, next one is London October 18th, last one was Vienna in 2019, previous year 2018 also London, before that Antwerp.......reopening of Sydney Opera House is quite likely to throw one up nicely timed for a big birthday!!

I finally solved my front brake problem that raised it's head on that day.  It was an original rubber brake hose as I suspected had collapsed inside, stopping the pressure from releasing the pads when the lever was released.  Both of the two remaining rubber hoses were replaced and all is good again.

I see you have the R1200C final drive gearing on your K1100RS. Did you do this or did it come that way? I have been looking at doing similar to my K1100LT and have a friend here who will do it, he is ex BMW and just recently put in the big bearing in mine but as we got caught short we just did the bearing.

I put them in, or should I say I got the BM Shop to fit them, even though they told me they wouldn't fit, I did my research and knew they would.  The first gears I fitted was back in 2002 to a K100 8v.  I would recommend the gears in both bikes, but the K11 with the extra torque seemed to benefit the most.  It trimmed 500 rpm's off top gear (compared to 31/11 gears), there was no more searching for 6th gear and fuel range went from 380km to 440km.  Highly recommend.

Can you post a thread with some information on what is needed to do the final drive swap?  I assume it involves pulling the guts from an R1200 final drive and installing them in the K100 Paralever final drive.  Is there anything else needed?

No, just swap out the gears, maybe new seals and/or bearings.  From what I can remember, I think I had to fabricate something to retain the Hubcap in the centre of the wheel as there was no threaded hole for a centre wheel bolt.
