I always believed in having a supply of spares in the shed, like plugs, pads, cables etc etc.

Yesterday morning I went out on a lovely morning on the K100RS. I have now got about 4,000 miles on it since April and to get to the point I feel i can travel on it.

So, it seemed like the clutch was a bit slow to drop.....and I am thinking clutch splines.....ok no big deal.

But an hour later....cable gave out. 

Mixture or sigh and relief. A: It was the cable and B: the nipple was still in the lever..

Lesson 1.......you can ride a K all day with no clutch....

Lesson 2.......always have a spare cable on you.....due to Lesson 1 no way was I swapping and anyway I had 2 in my shed.

Lesson 3......always have a spare cable attached to another bike. Parked the K100RS.....walked 3 feet, hopped on the K1100LT and back out again.

Lesson 4......... You can swap a clutch cable in under 5 minutes...

Lesson 5.........KPox is not a disease...

I do feel violated each time I pay the fee

Have the spare clutch cable laid in position alongside the current in use cable then it is just a matter of disconnecting/connecting the respective ends.

I love this idea. I may use it if I live long enough. Recent new clutch cable with new clutch. Whisper smooth operation now.
