Does anyone know if the VIN number on the BMW K75 bikes can break down to give date of manufacture? My registration papers say 1995 but I found the original owner manual stamped by the dealer for pre delivery inspection in 1992?

I would really like to know what year this bike is?

Go to Real OEM  https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select  put the last 7 digits of the VIN and you will get the truth.

Looked it up and it was produced in 01/1995. I do not understand how the pre-inspection delivery could be done in 1992 unless the manual I have is from another bike?

If the VIN on the frame matches the one on the title, you win the coconut!

The manual is always correct. You must have the wrong bike.

A few extra pointers;

Look at the manuals print date, and bike ID in the book.

If the gear box (edit: engine)  and brake hoses are original,  the month and year will be found there too,  and cannot be later than the bike.

What are the first four digits down under the oil filler cap..first two are month second two are year.....these give the engine manufacture date.

Sent an email to the previous owner. He had an older K75 (1990) that he sold for parts and kept the manual because the one I bought from him did not have a manual when he bought it.

Much appreciate all the good information. Will have a look at the four digits under the oil filler cap just to confirm. VIN number breakdown 112350

What if the oil cap is from a different moto? VIN number breakdown 177381

You have a 1995; revel in its ownership and leave obsession behind. The 1994 and 1995 models have the same specifications. Here's a link to a 1995 Rider's Handbook I posted on Motobrick. Familiarize yourself with its features and specs.
