Living in the Seattle area it’s almost time to put my K100 in for the winter. Looking for a “Top 10” list of important things to do to properly put her away for six months. Any suggestions?

Also, my K has been customed and a center-stand wont fit because how the exhaust is run. Is having it leaning on it’s side-stand for six months going to cause any issues with fluids?

Appreciated

When you do park it up, kill the engine well before you lean it over on to the kick stand. It will still smoke when you fire up in spring but don't worry about that.

All the other fluids will be fine due to being on side BUT you need to give your gas tank special attention due to the ethanol in the fuel which does all kinds of nasty things to the internals.

I know nothing about laying a bike up for the winter, we don't do that here. Well some do and some don't.

Is there any way you could use a paddock stand in your garage? Or put it on a block/stand? Only needs a wood pad between the stand and bottom of the gearbox.....

You really don't need to do anything if you're just laying it up until February or March.  Some Stabil in the gas tank wouldn't hurt if you're using gas with ethanol.

Don't worry about leaving it on the side stand. All of my Ks in my garage are on the side stand.  It might smoke when you start it in the spring but that doesn't matter.

The best way to winterize a K100 is to fix the genuine LT fairing on it.
For hard winters, the confort spoiler option is the ultimate solution to keep dry and warm.

I just did a round trip today, 3 hours each way.

Woke to a hard frost and had to take the RS as the K1100LT spat the oil out of the final drive seal when I came back from France 3 weeks ago...being sorted this week.

Temp was freezing all the way but the fairing is not bad at all......

Unless its icy, ride the bike.
