Here's my new rig:
K100 and Side Bike Comanche K100_c13
K100 and Side Bike Comanche K100_c11

I've bought it 3 weeks ago, to its very first owner and manufacturer. He was a professional welder and made a great job, with a very solid subframe which receives the front end coming for another sidecar from Side Bike, the Kyrnos. Nice features with the Gotti rims, the genuine muffler that was converted to a right hand side. But the masterpiece is the sidecar. Very low, with a steering wheel, the "cockpit" is a flip-front which allows to get into and gives access to storage compartments at the front.
No provable mileage, the engine is not running very well, the fuel pump died this morning after I tried to ride it.
It's very easy to handle, maneuvrability is excellent, one hand, or even one finger is enough to ride it.

Maybe it will change its color, or maybe I'll fit a K00RS half fairing on it:

1 - What language is the license plate?

2 - Custom radiator cowl?

3 - What mirrors are those on the K1?

This is South Venusian plate. But only for commercial vehicules.




3 - What mirrors are those on the K1?

Probably k1200rs mirrors or something like that. The right handle is coming from a 2000 BMW

The mirrors resemble R1100RS the way they're mounted with a through-bolt, especially the RH side.

Hi there,
I've not posted here since a long time, but it's time for me to introduce my new sidecar:
it's a '84 K100, fitted with a Side Bike Comanche sidecar.
Not factory made, as the firm only allowed to use Yamaha FJ or GTS. The builder, that wass a very good professional welder, made the sub-frame. Nice job, indeed!

i bought il one year ago and spent a lot of time solving electrical problems. The good welder was a bad electricity technician...
I also killed 3 fuel pumps before I discover that there was a kind of translucid lime in the bottom of the tank that i suspect being due to ethanol blend it today's fuel. The biked started very well, but when the slime was sipped after a few kilometers, it blocked dead the pump.
Some rust also, especially on the custom made right and exhaust, one pipe was cut by the rust. Cut, weld, done.
New calipers were also fitted, the previous owner had plan to fit new Brembo 4 pistons calipers, but they're design to fit a disc 5mm smaller in diameter...and were blocking the front disc.
I also had to make a new paint job on the bike, new tank (the old one revealed a hole when sanding it), new seat and heck (does not respect the model year, but matches much better the sidecar line) with a rare genuine optionnal sport seat from BMW. WHen I bought it it had a police single seat with a big ugly radio box.
At least, now, it runs and drives! Still an issue with the cockpit instruments, but I enjoy it anyway.

The sidecar is 2 wheel steering. That's why its position is so far from the back wheel. It only turns to the right, whether the front wheels turns to the right or the left, but its angle differs. It's designed to align on one single theoretical pivot point the three lines passing threw the wheels hubs. So there's no effort at all...and even to enough effort to provide on the bar to turn. Driving this sidecar is a bit disappointing, it asks no particular skills! But it's very efficient.

The passenger, sat at the rear end, is really into the sidecar. The cover is flipping front to give access to the seat, and to a circular storage compartment all around the seat with 3 openings. It won't allow a big case or bag, but there's a lot of place, indeed. All is made in fiberglass with a steel cage inside.

I love the wheels also. Gotti rims, 13 inches at the front and on the side, an a big 7x14 inches at the rear. Note the biaised steel mudguard to fit the big tyre!

For rainy conditions, a "deck" is protecting the passenger as it does on a kayak. It clips  around the seat to remain the body dry, only the head and the helmet are outside!

It's a funky monkey. Very Happy

Interesting that the exhaust was moved to the other side.  I guess that was done to accommodate that wide rear wheel.
