I have some mixed thoughts on this.
My K1100LT decided to crack the headers as they all do. Now when I took it home it was so silent I loved it. As quiet as the other Ks it was joining.
But it split, and for various reasons took time to get at it. But the most immediate effect was that in town pedestrians would walk out in front of me all the time.
Wisdom in the sense that a replacement used one was going to be expensive, and also likely to do the same thing.
So a Remus went on. Not particularly noisy but much more oomph in noise terms than the standard one. Now no issue with pedestrians walking out so a happy camper. Its done 18 months on it now. I go through a tunnel most days and what a sound.
But recently a relatively unused early K100RS has come. Stock exhaust and I just absolutely love the silence and turbine like sound. Would I change it? No. The sound of the stock pipe turns heads too.
I live rural and have happy horses in the fields around me, a riding school next to me. Would I recommend a noisy bike near green lanes, never. I have horses up and down past me all day, never an issue at all with anyone. We all exist together without a bother. Yes, if I meet a horse coming up the road toward me I pull over and kill the engine and without fail always a thank you.
