Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 1986 K100RT back in April and have been slowly working my way through fixing it. Don't usually post on forums but from what I've read on this one you guys have been really helpful already. Anyway here is my fix list so far

Already Fixed (after purchase)
Front Brake Master Cylinder- the little O ring leaked and corroded the whole assembly, managed to track down a 2nd hand one along with a clutch leaver & assembly for about $180 which I thought was pretty good
Rear Brake Resevoir- Had a small leak BUT made a cracking noise when I tightened it up after bleeding it and thought better replace this before it crumbles (which happened the next week) just bought a CNC alluminium one off ebay and it seems to be going strong

To Do
Rear Main Seal- Got all the parts on order, just waiting for them to arrive
Clutch Disc- Because oil leaked out from the main seal onto clutch (was like a waterfall when I removed the clutch assembly, probably should have drained oil first to avoid mess but clutch was already toast). Ordered one from Munich Motorcycles for $180~ and it arrived from WA the next day, so far very impressed with their service.
Incidental screws, washers, snaps and Orings- Most on hand, waiting for BMW to get them in for me
Oils- Engine, Clutch and Final Drive to be replaced when reassembling after RMS.

Jake I don't know whether it was a one off but Matt went through around 4 rear seals which leaked. It was eventually cured by linishing the running surface as per Charlie and fitting a OEM seal and "O" ring.
Regards Martin.

Got the OEM seal and ORing from BMW today and will attempt reassembly soon (hopefully within the next week). I'll let you know how I go.

I'm going to try and make a bit of a tool to seat the seal correctly (0.5mm proud if I remember correctly) using a block of wood and a router. Will update on weather it was useful or not.

No need for a router.  Just glue a piece of cardboard about 0.5mm thick from a cereal box to the block of wood after you cut a hole in the cardboard to clear the seal.  That is what I did and it worked fine.

Jake

Martin got one and he just around the corner  from you

We ended up putting my BMW seal flush with the surface as the lip need to sit on the clutch basket

Matt I PM'd him and let him know that I had all the gear and he was welcome to borrow it. Also let him know that I was available if he needed a hand.
Regards Martin.
