I'm sure this has been raised before but can't find any definitive answers - I'm looking to re-paint the parts of my K75 engine that left the factory black - DIY, in the garage, with "rattle cans" - any suggestions?

I just had a look at the forum search engine, typed in 'engine painting' and got a load of options. I admit I looked no further for the details but there's something contained herein the forum. Perhaps our mate Charlie99 has a suggestion. Besides his love of silver he may know a thing or two about paint adhering to the ally cases.

Rustoleum Canyon Black is a pretty good match.
Regards Martin.

Thanks Guys
Ceramic looks great, but i'm looking for a DIY (cheap) option - am I right thinking that Rustoleum is marketed as Hammerite in the UK?

I used a spray on Ceramic coating on my 85 100 with great effect. It was slightly shiny, hid a couple of minor oil leaks from my eyesight. That was the only problem, and as far as I'm aware the cases still look good a few years on.
Rattle tin from one of those auto super stores. And if I could do it, anyone can.

PJ1 or similar and follow the instructions CAREFULLY, otherwise it will peel off. Not Hammershite - the current formula won't last four minutes.

Sweated this one through as well here (https://www.k100-forum.com/t14843-back-to-black). Started out using Bobcat paint, I now see they call it 'Charcoal' I thought it was good old black, have been using it on other things for a while but it didn't look right so went to a Tramclad satin black and got this.

To shiny/to black?  Did not like this but kept going. When I got to the painting of the rest of the main body of the bike I painted a piece of cardboard Bobcat black, set it on the bike and it blended in nicely with the plastic and paint around the crank cover if not the frame so went for it.

This is the Bobcat paint with a clearcoat, the sump is still black, am going to leave it that way to help diapate heat, not looking stock but I think it looks good. I touched up my Bobcat with this paint a while ago and it covers well and is tough, it is a buck and a half more than the Duplicolor but OEM stuff generally had more quality.
Color is a tricky thing for these old eyes, here is the valve cover painted Bobcat on the shop woodstove which is for sure black.

I'm pretty sure that Rustoleum is a completely different product to Hammerite Jeff
