I'm sorta thinking of fitting a set of K1100 forks mostly for the uprated braking. I'm not a fan of that two-part mudguard, so the question is: has anyone ever fitted or tried to fit the K100 style mudguard to K1100 forks? Ignoring the fork brace, do they fit? A welder and some 3mm steel plate will sort out the fork brace.

I put a 2 piece guard on my K100 but not the other way but with some imagination and a welder I don't think it would be difficult. A small bracket that fixes to the brace plate would be all it should take. You could use the 2 piece from an RS the back section is the same as the K75 guards or cut the LT rear section down to match.
I gotta admit the LT guard sure is fugly.

I reckon the four inward facing fork brace tabs on the Marzocchi (or other K11) fork legs would be more in the way of fitting an early one piece mudguard, rather than just a convenient place to fit your own fabbed up brace that doesn't intrude on the space needed for the early muddie. 
I don't have an early fork to compare to in my shed or garage at the mo', but deduce this from squizzing at ETK.

To clarify,  when you write K100 mudguard...mine are two piece, is the assumption made on your part that all K100 fenders are one piece?

The K11 fork braces have the brake line splitter in them so you'd need to figure out what to do with piping the 4V brake calipers too.

FYI: The K1100LT fork brace has more tire clearance than the RS one because the LT front tire is 24.93" in diameter while the RS front is 23.61".  You can't run an LT front wheel with an RS fork brace without doing some minor mods.

@TWB: yes, as in one-piece mudguard, except for the RS. I was a bit worried about those mounts when I started looking at things.

@ Duck: Brakelines are never a problem as I make my own. LFB's brakeline splitter is an Aprilia item and is mounted on the fork brace. The brace itself is two pieces of 1.5mm plate ('coz I didn't have a piece of 3mm at the time) bolted to a pair of Tarozzi fork "grips" (there's gotta be a proper name for them but I have no idea what it is... ). It's not quite as ugly as it sounds!

Loosely translated as 'tube chompers'.

When I worked for Honda Australia we would knock back warranty claims for leaking fork seals if those things were fitted.
I did put one of them on my Z1300 Kawasaki and found the seals leaked, when I removed them no more leaks

I've had no problems on Guzzis or the brick with Tarozzi braces. Sounds like the problem may have stemmed from 'thin' walled sliders that were being distorted by the brace. Or possibly a badly-machined tube chomper, I suppose.

I inherited a 1 piece fender with my ‘85 RT which I assume is original from the tele forks. If you need one to experiment with, its yours for the asking. Will post pic if you’re interested.

I've given the idea up, Stu. I wanted better braking but discovered last Tuesday that EBC HH pads on cast iron discs pushed by a 13mm m/c is enough to squeal the tyre on a dry road. That'll do me, Tommy!

The sound effects are missing but the same set up will easily and even more quickly lock up the front tire in the wet Dai.     And yes, this is fully based on my own experience.  I seem to recall that Mr. Romestant mentioned the main benefit of the 20mm MC was that it offered a broader range of control.

With these cast discs I've honestly never had more than gentle retardation with Ferodo Platinums and now organic EBCs. Clearly sintered is the way to go, but what if the whole lot rusts together when left in the rain..??

I think I got mine to skip along over some pebbles once. Downhill. When a car suddenly wanted to come the other way up a narrow lane and panic braking ensued.

Ah.... well... I don't have a standard setup. My m/c is a 13mm jobbie from a Laverda Formula 750. It does rust. Add salt to the mix and leave overnight. Now try getting the bike off the mainstand.... 





































Smacking the calipers with a big rubber mallet solves the problem
