I have a 1992 k75 standard with a low seat. Has anyone ever wired a BMW navigator 3 with the mounting cradle to their bike? Any pictures or help would be great. Thanks

I just installed a Nav IV as a second gps on my K1600.

I bought BMW repair connector pn 83300413586 to plug into the cradle wiring. I don't like cutting wires if I don't have to. I pulled the power from my PDM60 since it provides switched power.

Red is positive and black is negative.

I can report the Nav IV powers up perfectly. The best part is I can remove the Nav cradle and move it to my K100 when I want to because I bought a second repair connector for it.

The Nav III was standard equipment about ten years ago. If you also have the base and the factory power plug you only have to find a suitable switched 12V and earth point. I have the Nav III unit on my K1200R and it plugs directly into the wiring loom up the front. My suggestion, for keeping the electrical portion of the installation tidy, is to determine the plug type of the Nav you have and obtain the other side of the plug with a length of loom from BMW. These images are what's available from BMW. They're readily available, though not always cheap, but will provide you with an easily removable plug that you wire in to the aforementioned power and ground points. Where and how you physically mount the unit and cradle is a custom affair. There was a bloke selling a metal 'shelf' that fit behind and across the RS windscreen. I have one in Australia, but have never fit it to the bike. A handlebar mount such as RAM or other might be preferable on a K75, but you don't specify which model 75 you have....recommend placing that info in your signature line for all to see at a glance.

So I found the Nav 3 wiring harness that goes to the gps and the four button cradle.  Anyone happen to have the plug that it would plug into that gets wired to power from the bike?

Generally, for BMW's red is positive and black is negative. The repair wire connector might have both wires as yellow (the one I used had all 3 wires yellow).

The Nav IV cradle I have has the wires coloured: red, black, yellow. It was easy to wire up. The Nav's seem to be polarity secure so if you get the polarity mixed up it will protect itself. But better safe than sorry.

Always use a fused power source. 3 amp is fine. You can use a regular automotive Bosch relay to make it a switched power (power to the gps only when the bike is turned on). I always get the trigger source from the tail light.

I found a wiring harness that plugs into the gps and the 4 button cradle with the cigarette lighter power source on the dash of my 1992 k75 standard for my Navigator 3. It was on ebay, from China  and says used, with the name Garmin on it. Anyway, because I am electrically challenged to put it mildly I've decided to go this route. Once I get it and verify it works, anyone who would like to have the harness I was going to use can have it for the cost of shipping. If there is room in your budget to donate anything to this sites donation place then that would be great. Again, thanks to all for your help.
