@Dai - thanks for the link. Is this stuff any good? there are a number of small holes in the tank i have discovered so it is not economical to repair. Sherlocks and Motorworks seem to be approx €150-€200 for a  second hand tank.

Well, it worked for me. Just be sure to follow the instructions exactly and wear the provided PVC gloves when moulding the stuff together. If you don't, you'll get hand-oil in the mix and it won't homogenise properly. One of the holes in LFB's tank is on a weld where it rubbed through against the frame (tank distortion due to a prang with the PO). I sort-of double-protected it by gluing a piece of 2mm rubber to the frame and another piece on top of the tank repair. Something similar may help where tank meets radiator. Or tilt the radiator very slightly forward with a spacer on the top fixing bolt?

Worth trying: Paddy Costello in Central Motorcycles in Tullamore. They're a big breakers and I'm almost sure this is where I picked up a shedload of K parts about eight years ago. It was a breakers in Tullamore anyway!

Thanks for that - found some resistant chemical metal - I have patched it and will keep an eye on it. There are plenty of jobs to keep me going on the K

Next stop Dundalk Omniplex on the old N52 there a coffe shop there , the Park (pop KFC) for refuel and meeting those from North.

Meeting on the M1 services at Castlebellingham an option for some but I'm trying to avoid that as everyone will get motorway in en route to the meet up.

Ok Dai Will had mentioned a different location to me, I wont mention to avoid any confusion.

Plan is to leave Trim 11.30am and then the next stop being the Dundalk Omniplex. Going off what Will said I think its about an hour from Trim so 12:30 at Dundalk Omniplex.

My own plans are a little fluid at the minute but it looks like I will stay up at Trim and head to the meet up point at Trim for breakfast. I know Chris has also sorted accommodation near Trim.

Chris/William Carruthers are both staying Trim Friday and Saturday night.: I am also staying up near Trim Friday/Saturday night about 4 miles out, not sure of arrival time.

To be honest Olaf, I've pretty well shot myself in the foot when it comes to snow warnings. I've have a fine-balanced agreement with my manager at work that if there's a snow warning, I work from home. He wouldn't be too please to find I'd been out in one on the bike over the weekend.

Any thoughts on a change to Sunday if weather looks not the best for Saturday? Just exploring the idea.

In case anyone is teetering towards the hopelessly optimistic - it’s absolutely slinging it down here in Trim. This bar is lovely and warm though, and voices are saying, “stay with us today Chris”...

it looks like it was not to be.

My brother-in-law, who was just discharged from hospital yesterday after a triple bypass, has asked to stay with us for the weekend.

He lives in and runs a B&B, so it would have been a busy weekend and he would have gotten no rest there.

Looking out this morning, it is very wet and windy, so it would not have been any fun in any case.

We can always meet up either later in the month, or next month. 

I plan on getting out soon anyway, probably with Conan and Richard. Destination in mind is Silvermines etc. So we can post it here and anyone can join in if available.
