oh how the pride is dented....

waiting at a local roundabout for the exit traffic to move, I realised I had enough

room to snuck up behind a bus.

The bus began to move off, then stopped , as I did, but somehow my centre of gravity shifted to my  right,

and with the roundabout surface being pretty bad, and on an incline with a  nasty camber to boot, I

gracefully went over with the bike.

I rolled over, thankfully stopping before the flower beds, watching the right mirror pod following me.

A chap from an office opposite came out and helped me get the bike back upright.

One bent throttle lever, some paint missing from the mirror pod,

and my pride a little dented.

This is my second (stationary ) trip to the tarmac on a k bike, I guess it may not be the last.

Doh! Don't you just hate it when that happens.
Glad to hear not too much damage caused, apart from the bruised ego.

Same sort of thing happened to me once, on my previous K100. My wife wanted me to look at a house for sale so we headed off, she in the car in lead, me trailing on the bike. Winding through the suburbs, she makes a left turn onto a side street and immediately stops the car. I'm following and just complete the turn, still on a slight angle, when I'm forced to stop because of the car smack dab in front of me. Managed to stop but now the K-bike is leaned precariously to the left and I've only got once foot planted. I'm struggling to keep the bike from falling to the left but couldn't stop its inevitable drop because I didn't have the strength. So, I eased it over on its side as gently as possible when one it overbalanced, and hopped off onto my ass. I recovered and got the bike back up (with a struggle) but the brand new paint job was damaged. Was I embarrassed? No. Was I pissed? Yes.

BTDT. Crying or Very sad
12 years ago, nearly busted an ankle crawling out from underneath my K1200S in front of the patrons of a fancy restaurant I'd just eaten in. Maybe it was the half bottle of plonk?!
drunken

Nowadays I use a tether on the lock and don't 'drink' n ride.

Not too far from Hoover dam I stopped for gas on my K75RT on a trip out West.  Puling out of the station down a steeply inclined driveway I had to stop when a car approached from the left.  I stopped okay, but I was right over the low spot where the incline of the drive met the camber of the road surface.  The pavement was about four inches below my foot when I put it out to hold the bike upright...
