All in jest, but leave it to a pom to call a croc an alligator.

yep the only real difference is a croc just bites your bits off and a gator twists your bits off....painful either way..they used to shoot crocs here up until the 70's and then they decided they were becoming endangered species so they banned it....no matter what happened to people. There are calls now even from pollies to do some culling.

Loved it when i worked in govt seafood industry in Qld and we used to get a truck load of farmed crocs for processing and each had a small hole between the eyes.

Was an elderly lady (nick named grandma) who used to fish off a very small beach under a jetty at Karumba on the Norman River in Qld. She was fishing one night and hooked a decent size salmon ..then  a croc came out from under the jetty behind her and grabbed the fish.

Don't know if she continued fishing in that spot. Shocked

We don't have much of a croc problem. The sharks have eaten them. For those overseas members (particulary Bert) that do not know much about Aussies 177381

David, do you know where I got all the ideas for technical repairs and modifications?
From the most well known Canadian Handyman: Mr Red Green.
Maybe the aussies never heard about him.

I'm less than two and a half hours to Canada. I love how everything and everyone feels a notch more relaxed up there. Who doesn't like Canadians!? The only big problem is the left lane hogs. Good thing I have a motorbike that goes round them easily.

I'm about about a half hour from the border, and work less than 200 meters from it.  TWB is right.  Canadians are pretty cool, we get a lot of Canadian yachties during the summer, and I party with a lot of them.  The only people who I've seen party harder are the Aussies.

And yes, there is something about Ontario plates that makes the driver run in the left lane at 10 under.

In Australia, everything is fixed with 8 gauge fencing wire. 😀

So when are you coming over here then????? I have painful memories of being handed a whiskey tumbler filled with Irish Mist, neat, after a hard 3 day race in almost flat calm where we couldn't flinch for fear of collapsing our spinnaker, on arrival at about 8am in sunshine, followed by another similar glass and another .......as were the rest of the crew........some strange incidents were observed in the subsequent hours and weeks. If you have never tried Irish Mist you need to do a little hunting...

In times past, in order to ensure a successful evening one invited the local constabulary one of whom would remain observant and who would happily offer to drive you home........but were known to occasional take the p**s and take you home extra quickly and amuse your neighbours.

Fortunately Bert this was prevented by an Act of Parliament in Australia in 1869 (vide: Australian Acts of Parliament attempting to lower the  intellectual status of Australian residents by becoming Canadian citizens) Which allegedly was initiated by pseudo Canadians. Olaf, I'd love to do a race in your waters, although I've pretty much quit that scene.

Worst party was after crewing on the winning boat in the Marion, MA to Bermuda ocean race.  A full week of 141 proof Dark and Stormy's.  What little I can remember of that week I'm embarrassed to admit doing.  Drunken sailors do indeed work hard to maintain their reputation.

These days I mainly drink Jameson or Tullamore D.E.W. shots at the local pub.  I'll have to check that Irish Mist again.  Haven't had any in years.

That race for us was down to Jersey and we did win it too despite the crew of complete strangers being hobbled together the previous weekend.......
Bikes may be bad for amount of maintenance needed in proportion to time its used, but boats are on a vastly different scale and over here you don't sleep when a Force 8 blows....is she tied up ok.......while a bike/s sleeps nice in the shed.

Well now would you believe I passed the Jameson distillery this afternoon........its not even half an hour from me.......and I regularly meet 88 [Will] at Tullamore.....home of Tullamore DEW [D. E. Williams being the old original company name for those who may be curious here]. Of course our Norn Iron trip takes us up to Bushmills.....

But....you can't beat Irish Mist......

I am told that the frontal lobotomy is not compulsory but it will help you deal with the mob next door. Very Happy
