Later today I'm taking off on my big ride for the summer. (It's my 7th ride on a 93 K1100LT that I call the LTR so I refer to this trip as LTR7.)

I don't have any firm route or schedule but in general it will be something like this:

2018 Western US (LTR7) 00LTR7SW.Map

I'm guessing something like 5,000-6,000ish miles and something like ten(?) days.  I'll be camping and visiting other K bike owners along the way, staying at motels if I can't find camping or need a shower.

My general plan is:

* Oregon coast
* California coast with a stop in San Francisco to see an 85 K1000RS that somebody is bringing back from the dead
* I'd hoped to hook up with Larry Romestant while in the LA area but he's going to be out of town so I'll have to visit him next trip
* Angeles Crest
* Route 66 in Arizona
* Visit a K75 owner outside of Taos, New Mexico and ride up Pike's Peak with him
* Visit a K1100LT owner in Salida, Colorado
* Maybe a side trip to the "Million Dollar Highway"
* Chief Joseph Byway in Wyoming
* Beartooth Pass
* Glacier National Park
* Hit some ghost towns in northern Washington on the way home from Glacier

But that's just a general plan. Weather, whims or other considerations may lead me in different directions.

As I have the time, inclination and Internet access, I'll post some pictures in this thread along the way...

Enjoy the ride and be safe.   Very Happy
My big tour this year will be to take in the Barber Festival on my new-to-me K1100LT.  I'm hopeful that the weather will be less extreme when that date arrives, and the wildfires will be a thing of the past for this year.

Have fun duck and hope things work out for you. Are you riding solo? If so please do not let to many days go by without posting an update, sorry but just can't relax when some one is out alone.

Man! the names of some of those places, just fantastic. We've got a hill here called "Linger and Die" I reckon I might have to go see if they have tarred it yet.

It sounds like a really great trip.
