Hello, I have a 1992 K75 that I've brought back to life. However on a test ride the auto cancel for turn indicators is not functioning. I have checked all fuses and tried to clean any electric connector I can find. Anyone know of where I might look to fix this. My speedometer is intermittent as well, but I'll try fixing one then the other. Thanks for any help.

The intermittent speedo may be related to your problem as they are connected.

The rear sensor in the final drive may need to be cleaned. It has an allen bolt into the final drive, on the top but be careful as its possible to break it. The cancelling function doesn't work if the speedo is out as it cancels after I think 1km

What he said.  The auto turn signal cancel is triggered by a blue/green wire from the instrument cluster to the flasher relay.  If your speedo sensor or speedo is wonky then there's a good chance that is the issue with the signal cancel.  Attempt to fix the speedo first.

Per the rider manual it cancels after about 210 meters.

Thanks for the quick responses. I cleaned the sensor with the allen head bolt. I am looking for the wire Duck mentioned to check that as well. Does anyone happen to know what the plastic black cylinder item directly above the sensor that is on the top of the final drive is? I hope your ankle is healing up well Duck. Thanks again.

Thank you Charlie99. Can it be cleaned? If so how do I get it off?

You don't need to check that wire.  Your problem is most likely speedo related.

Also there is no need to mess with the breather cap.  You can pull it up and off but there's really no point in doing that.

If the sender required cleaning you might want to do a good flush of the final drive as there might be a lot of metal particles floating around in there.

Not sure you'd need to actually flush it.  Just a gear oil change should do the trick given the magnetic drain plug.

Flushing it opens up a memory. I had an issue on my K100RT and cured it by cleaning the sensor....BUT funny thing was that not long afterwards I noticed the final drive wasn't right and a second opinion confirmed big bearing was on the way out. Reading this thread makes me suggest just keep an eye on it, is it just a need for cleaning or a sign of bearing wearing? There certainly should never be metal particles in it, a sure sign of things going wrong.

Best beer I've enjoyed in a long time. I did change final drive oil. Gave the bike a wash today and it looks good. Happy to be back on the road again on this bike.
