I have discovered that my 1992 K100LT is not eligible for a Vignette Crit'Air. (As I think all K100s are tool old).

Does anyone have practical experience of the effect of not having this for touring in France. Also any other EU countries with similar new restrictions?

That's a bit of a worry for tourists transiting, isn't it!?

Just do like we do: don't care about this bullshit and ride.
Only 30 fines have been given in Paris since these Crit Air were compulsory...and not because everybody has one, because nobody has one! Restrictions are purely virtual.
Moreover, I'm pretty sure that it's impossible for a vehicle registered in a foreign country to get this vignette: too expensive to send and too difficult to cope with translations for our system... Laughing (just to explain: I eventually received my registration paper for a Ducati I bought in january, last thursday. Since there's no more physical possibility to register a vehicle with a human being, you have to use the gov' website. It just took 138 days, after 28 trials to get it. And I'm a lucky boy...)
So imagine a brit trying  to get a Crit Air vignette for this summer Laughing

If a cop asks you anything, just answer speaking quickly with a deep scott accent.
He won't argue.

Note that I have plenty of vehicles, but only one that could pretend to a Crit Air vignette: my 2004 Royal Enfield, with it's good ond iron barrel, its almost free exhaust and greasy carb, with an engine designed to match the emission rules in 1947.
But, as it was registered in 2004, it's a good bike that will save the planet.

I don't have them for the car or the bikes and I tour our county all the time. In the UK at the moment, on the bike. All my vehicles are French registered.
As an aside I have bought a few new vehicles in the past couple of years and received the registration documents for each of them within a week, and that includes two new Ducatis.

I travel to France every year to visit Bob T - I've done it on 3 different bikes k100, K75 and Ducati ST - never had it for any of them and was never asked!

They only apply in major cities and I think Paris and Lille are the only two.

Bordeaux is supposed to be getting them.

You are right about that Olaf.
Even Germany has the same type of stickers for some of the major cities. I had to get one for my brand new leased car in order to drive in Frankfurt.
If I recall correctly, the restriction to drive in the cities in France are only during the week days. During the week end, you can still ride/drive an old vehicle without the vignette.

You are correct about the weekdays too. I have a feeling its only within certain hours.

I looked at it because of some travel plans and Bordeaux is the only one that would concern me.
