Hello all - new member here, riding a Dakar Yellow '94K75S plus a few other Beemers. I live in Northern California, near San Francisco, so I have the pleasure of riding great moto roads (after I ride through hideous commuter traffic on most days).

I'm a member of a few BMW groups, and other BMW online Forums. I'm hoping to learn from those K100 riders that have contributed to this Forum.

I've been to Richmond CA. I have a photo of me outside the Police Station. The Cops were every helpful when I told that the suburb next to where I live (Windsor NSW) is Richmond. From what I learnt that it was a gentleman from Windsor NSW, who founded Richmond CA. So there is a tie between our two Cities that are half a world apart.

Welcome to the Knuthouse from Australia.

Thanks for saying hello.

Sorry you had to talk to the local coppers when you were here; I hope it wasn't anything serious!

Best.

Welkom Ranbush,

A good choice of moto.

What was the story with those yellow 75s'?  My understanding is they were a NA only model with about 200 made.

Dave.

I think it was 100 units in 1994.  Red may be faster, but the yellow really looks good with the black running gear.

Nope, they were wondering why I was taking a photo of the station. Even had a cup of coffee with them.

Too bloody right  Cool

The yellow ones must be a bit of a rarity then.  I saw an S fairing set for sale at Beemer Boneyard a while back.

More photos perhaps?

I've heard that 300 Yellow K bikes were made in '94, one year only, and 50 bikes were imported into the US. Supposedly to celebrate the win in the Paris-Dakar race. The yellow color was from the BMW auto line, and a Moto Manager requested the special run of yellow K bikes.

Quote from a 1994 press release, "Finally, in late May, the limited edition K75S will debut. It will be painted Dakar yellow with a black seat and driveline. Heated handlebar grips and a luggage grid will be standard on this version. It has a suggested retail price of $9,850."

I'll bet you that somebody somewhere has got a registry of all the yellow K75S bikes in the U.S. - I know of 2 or 3 others in California.
