Hi, been doing some tinkering on the RS, after someone knocked of my r/h mirror pod and broke the lens.
   Not being able to get hold of any lenses, decided to make something. I do like the style / look of the RS.
   
Thought i'd share it - to have ideas thrown around or 
   Someone with experience may have suggestions [ like dont attemp it ] 
   It did prove very time consuming but i'm satisfied with the result.



   The Indicators  Motorcycle LED Turn Signal Blinker Front Rear Peg Light
      Measurement : - Len size: 38mm x 22mm x 10mm - Wire Length: Approx. 28cm Seller: mfactory.



   The Light  2pcs 18mm Motorcycle 3W LED Eagle Eye Daytime Running DRL




   I left the original hardware, just in case the Lenses do come available









The mirror pods themselves did not get damaged because [as suggested] i fitted a lanyard.

I tried modifying my original lenses but found they were too brittle (30 yrs old, go figure) and gave up having achieved nothing except breaking them.

These look great, and I love the yellow!

I took a different path with mirrors/indicators and here is a pic I took tonight just at sunset.

Great job on the indicator lenses, but I wanna know what's under the fairing nose, too. That looks like a real bright idea!

Where did that black lens come from???

I shall Enlighten you then...
   I made a bracket using existing holes. The drawing is not to scale its just to illustrate the bracket i made.


   I wanted to keep the Lights discreet not make a show of them.





   They are wired up as: The 3 LED light is wired to the Park light. 
      The light in the mirror pod is wired to headlight low beam 
         and the spot light is wired to the headlight high beam.

I'm working on a simple circuit for that gaz ...might take some time though , depending on moving in the next month or so

Did you use the original turn signal lens to install the LED unit in the mirror pod?

To Shed a bit more light on this subject - 
   Gaz - The white light does not go off when indicator is on. Had not thought of doing that.
   
   Several attempts, mistakes and time later, ive settled on what i have. 
      But some food for thought -

Played around with it. Trying different shapes.





Tried a full cover







I did not like this attempt - but maybe ideas for others.

Point-Seven-five, What i did to get the shape was to take a copy of the lense in place. 
   Then using modeling clay, worked the shape from there.

Dale I reckon you've started a cottage industry now that the lenses for the RS mirrors are supposedly unobtainable.

Just shows that if someone is prepared to put the time in most challenges can be overcome.

Dale, that is brilliant!  Once you had the modelling clay form what did you use to create the "lens".  Fiberglass, acryllic resin? 

As more owners come up against the lack of replacement lenses  and mirrors, good tutorials on repair options for this critical assembly will become more valuable.

I love riding round Katoomba, and was there only just last trip home. Pamela had never been there. The Sisters are just beyond...

Not seen them, so no idea of the quality and if the certain legal markings required in some countries.

Yeah, might be a bit of drama in countries with MOT and roadworthy inspections, but in Los Estados Unidos they'd be no problem. Since BMW cannot supply them why not give them a go?

If anyone who's a member of that forum would be kind enough to enquire of him, get his contact details, I'll try a coupla sets...
