hello,

I need to renew the side stand bushing but ...
It seems that the side stand and the bracket, where you mount the stand, both have a bushing.
The one in the bracket is not playing ball.
On the side of the bracket where you insert the bushing I see a little hole but I can't tell if this holds a screw of some sort to keep the bushing in place.
In this picture you can see the bushing the needs to be inserted in the side stand bracket (or so I think). Is it just a matter of pushing the old one out?

thanks,M

thx,Mremove side stand bushing Bmw_k110

It should only be a bushing in the bracket.

The small hole is for lubricating, using a grease gun with a pointed tip.

The little hole on mine is connected to a normal grease nipple.

Ok, thanks.

I am thinking of removing the center stand and only keep the side stand.
The K100 does not like the side stand because of the issue of oil going to the cylinders when it stand on the side stand to long.
Extending the side stand seems best then.
Any info on that?

A grease nipple was used on later models.

On early models the small hole is drilled in the mounting bracket.
Later models have a distance sleeve underside of the bolt head (and a longer bolt)
where the grease nipple is mounted.

The smoke that might be created by leaving the bike on its side stand is only temporary; as a bonus, it keeps the mosquitoes and midges away.

It seems to me that if you attempt to make the bike more vertical when on its side stand, all you will be doing is making it more likely to be tipped over in the opposite direction, either intentionally or accidentally. As long as it is tipped at all, some oil will still be seeping into the combustion chamber.

When parked on pavement at its typical side stand angle, it takes some real effort to knock it over.

search in the forum for sidestand puck

there is a procedure for sidestand parking that not always , but regularly lessens the chance of smoking

good luck

That's unreal.
The week gone, I tried to start my K100 after wheeling it into the workspace. Kept firing but wouldn't run.
Following day realised I'd 'borrowed' the MAF a while ago to try it on the MadAss.
They don't run without MAFs do they?

Uncanny. Transcontinental dumbness, the international language of bikers.

Glad the post made you laugh, have fun.
