Since I am rebuilding my bike, I would like to dive into the motor to replace the oil and water pump, and take the covers off to inspect as well.  Does anyone make a rebuild kit or is it just piece it all together?  TIA!

Justin

If you put the VIN and model in your signature it will help those that will answer the question for you.

The oil/water pump does have a rebuild kit but early ones usually end up needing a new shaft. impeller, seals and be aware the ceramic seal is so easily broken........great care is needed to do it successfully. If its working you could leave it well alone but on almost all Ks its a case of when it fails, not if.

There are lots of other things to do if you have the bike apart that are simple, such as sprag clutch clean, inspect output shaft rivets [again there is a 6/12 rivet issue depending on year],

As for water/oil pump pieces there are 'kits' available but, of course, as stated previously, one would need to know which year/model you own for the correct bits to be obtained. If there's no sign of coolant in your engine oil and the weep hole at the base of the pump is dry I'd leave it alone for the future.

Here's a piccie from Motobins UK of a 'kit' to fit most Ks.
