The replacement is a Sachs. I finally fixed the clutch arm too; for some months now I've been using LFB as a substitute for a Moto Guzzi LeMans Mk1 and my left wrist looks like something I borrowed off Popeye. I couldn't get the pivot pin out, so I had Plan A, Plan B and Plan C in place. Plan A involved a lot of heat being put into the pivot mounts and cost me the price of a second Bosch hotair gun (one for each side). Plan A worked; unsurprisingly I found the clutch arm pivot bearings almost totally absent and their passing marked by streaks of rust. The clutch arm had twisted sideways and was dragging on the pivot mounts. I thought the pivot pin would be corroded in but it wasn't; it was a build-up of rust and bruising of the pin from the disintegrated bearings that was stopping it from coming out. That was also contributing to the lack of movement in the arm.

Two fingers now.

To pull the clutch in, that is. How far can you push the clutch? 44271 I had a good spare arm (not mine) in the box of bits.

So, one problem down, shedloads to go. The brackets at the back of the frame that hold the indicators and the mudguard on have spalled so badly that they'll have to be cut off and new ones welded on. Just got to wait for the piece of steel that's gone snowboarding.

Fit a grease nipple to the arm it allows you to grease it and push out the crap.

Inge: LFB lives outside for most of the year. I'd also guess that you don't get quite as much rain as we do? It also doesn't help that I live out in the country, so the roads usually have a layer of acidic farm sh!te on them.

Martin: dammit. I meant to do just that. Too late this time round - must remember at the next spline lube. The bearings are currently packed with Optimol, for what that's worth.

The question was, how far can you push the clutch?
My answer was, more than 200K km........

Could be that I haven't got any sense of humor......but as a K owner you should laugh.

I bought a new clutch plate when I replaced the weeping rear main seal. I had to special order it, so no returning it.
When I got it apart the OEM had very little wear and that was done at 140,000 Ks. So 100,000 miles would be easy to achieve if not double that with no hooning. How far can you push the clutch? 161205

Sorry Inge - It was a fast reply while at work. Now you've pointed out what should have been obvious...I'm an idiot sometimes. I also thought you might be refering to the frame damage.
