Hi to you all.

I have just been offered a 1990 K100rt ex police bike that I will pick up off of a mate in a few months. It is in about a hundred pieces ATM but shouldn't take to long to put back together. This will be about my twentieth bike in the last 35 years or so, and my first BMW.Another Aussie 9k=

Welcome to the forum Mark. All should go back together provided the rear loop has not been cut off to make a "real" cafe racer.

The rear loop is still there. I saved it from "cafe racering" and plan to put a double seat on it and a normal duck tail. When the time comes I will sell off the single seat and radio box that the Police used. I like the "Stone" bikini fairing and bars so will leave them alone.

welcome aboard marc

have fun with the rebuild , shouldn't be too hard at all , but a bit of a leaning curve if you want to understand how it all works

don't be afraid to ask questions , many have been there before

and don't forget to take loads of pictures as reference , when removing something , especially electrical .

cheers

The bike currently resides at Calamvale in Brisbane. The owner at present is my brother from another mother who said he will put most of it back together for me. But I will still pull the rear end off to inspect and lube the shafts, check wheel bearings ect. And give the whole thing a good going over. It will be ridden around here (Chinchilla area) to find any problems and sort it out. Then it's maiden voyage will be a trip to Bairnsdale in Vic to see my parents or Maybe Townsville to visit kids and grandkids. Either way it will never be a show peice.

Welkome Marc, show piece or not they make a great ride - so long as you are happy with how it turns out you'll get years of enjoyment riding it.
Look forward to catching up some time, keep an eye on the forum for opportunities once you have it on the road.

Cheers

Underarm deodorant is optional in Peenrith (and Wogongong) from what I've observed in my infrequent trips down to the southern latitudes. Another Aussie 214585

Wilkommen im Forum. I reckon you'll find some kommon ground with like-minded souls, even amongst those with a bit of a 'pong'.

I have two 'duck' ('86 on) tails mixed in with two complete sets of K1100RS fairings, windscreens, mirrors, mounts & hardware which I will be boxing up and shipping back Down Undah this year for use in the future. If you need a a bit I might have it, but it'll be OZ Spring '18 before it's there.
