Hi All.
I have been aware of the forum for a long time so thought I had better join. I have K100RT (ex-police and the complicance states 1991LT, but I don't think so). I have had it since 1997 but I am embarrased to say I have not ridden it in over 7 years and it needs some TLC. I have been GS'ing since I stopped riding it and kept meaning to fix all things needing work. But life and things just got in the way. Was going to part it out or sell it but could not bring myself to do it. Something about the old K.
Anyway, time to get into restoring the old thing since I no longer have the GS thanks to a cage driver in early April this year. While I can now walk again I am a long way from swinging a leg over a bike. Which gives me time to contemplate what I am going to do with the old girl. I have read heaps of the threads here and great to see such a friendly bunch of people and still riding K's.

Cheers

Rob

Thanks guys.
yeah wasn't fun at all. But first time I have been seriously injured in 40 years of riding, and I have had some real doozies of accidents. Its mostly the stupidity of the cage driver that gets me. Have to say I rate the BMW clobber and body armour. Only reason I am walking now I reckon.

Been listing all the things I will have to get for the K now. Things it already needed and things that will have failed after being left neglected and me not storing it properly. Time to get rid of one of the cars and get the K on the lift and fish out the manuals. Think I have a factory workshop one somewhere.
Biggest challenge is what colour to paint it. Stay factory or go bright. Seems a nice orange would look good with the black engine.

Welcome to the asylum from the northern realms. Bricks are definitely  worth the effort of a resurrection.

I am some what embarrassed but I need to tell you now.... the colour is in fact a Vespa colour and the build thread is called ...the journey begins. Good luck and if you choose that colour we can be twins.

Hi from another downunder inmate 2012-111

mmm i do like  that colour. I have seen what I think is a factory "Orange" on a Ford model some thing or other. Nice to see most of the plastics done. I was wondering if that would have been too much orange , but not bad at all. Not sure on the green strap on the pannier though. On mine the engine, gearbox, drivetrain and peg brackets are mostly black. I was thinking of a mostly black naked K with the tank, mudguard and tail piece orange.
But I do like this. Great job ainsjac Hi from another downunder inmate 112350.

The green strap was the result of a soft landing on powdery gravel on the way to the meeting.

Hi Matthew,
South side. In the 19 years I have been here I have never "got" this north/south side of the lake business. Seems very parochial to me. But then I have lived in other countries in my younger years and don't associate with places that way.
I would expect you find Brisbane a bit more humid than here.

Rob
