Hi!

After converting my K100RS to a cafe racer (slightly), i'm looking to do an exhaust change.
Merely to get af better sound out of it  Twisted Evil

I've have stumbled upon these: http://cafe4racer.eu/en/55-k100-exhasut-parts-collectors-4to1#

Yet, I wonder how it will fit on my stock exhaust? Do I need to cut/weld the thing on?

Any tips will do!

Depending on where you want the collector to end, you may need to cut.  It does require the exhaust spring tab to be welded to one of the header pipes but if you have a pretty solid mount for the muffler (like on the foot peg bracket), you could probably get away without the spring.

I have their collector with the right side pipe (goes under the bike in front of the rear wheel) and the tips were mounted to the foot peg with a metal tab I made.  It's not going anywhere and i don't have any of the exhaust springs installed.

Thanks for the tip. I will buy at muffler with the 4to1.
But it seems like the only place where I can unscrew Any bolts on my entire exhaust system, is the manifold going into the engine? How can get the muffler off so i have the 4 pipes to slide the converter on to?

The four exhaust pipes should have clamps on them where they enter the silencer (muffler). You will probably need to take the whole exhaust system off to free the exhaust pipes as they almost invariably get glued into the muffler with carbon deposits.

If you don't have any clamps near the muffler then someone has put a later exhaust system on there and you will need to source either the four K100 exhaust pipes (Motorworks is a good bet) or find an entire exhaust system to strip down.

A photograph would help?

That is an exhaust system from a 16 Valve engine so that collector does not fit.  You will need the 4 header pipes for an 8 valve engine and the collector will slip straight on. Well that's what should happen.

Thanks Rick.

But that it really a headache, because such header pipes can be hard to locate or get without paying +200$.
Is there ANY other way, in which I can modify the existing exhaust, to get some more sound out of it?
Is there a DB killer or such?

If you fit a DB killer then you will bet less sound out of it as it will kill decibels.
One solution might be to cut the existing system and reweld after removing internals, but that would be welding stainless steel and you would not know the outcome till you fitted it back on the bike.Take note that the original exhaust is a great design and anything that you might do is going to reduce power. The German "Das Motorrad" magazine did an in depth test on after market exhausts for the K100, many years ago and not one was capable of producing the power that the standard exhaust does.

If the chance that you might reduce power doesn't disturb you, ALEKIP, you might modify your existing system as this builder has done.

But that builder is talking about the old 8 valve exhaust with the square end, if you had one of those than you would not need to cut it as you would have all the bits that you need for the 4 into 1.
We are talking about the round end 16 valve exhaust here which is very different.

Have a listen to a staintune exhaust. There should be plenty of these around and they sound a lot better ... almost loud (at least for a BMW Kbike... nothing on a Harley). I had one on a spares bike I moved onto my 84 RS and it certainly adds to the rid. Even a bit of backfire.

These will go straight onto standard headers but might be a little long for your look

Of course, the best performance comes from the stock exhaust. But sounding like you are going fast is all part of it - even if it does cost a few hp (1000cc allows you to lose a bit)

there are at least 2 versions of the staintune for the k100
and they don't perform or even sound quite the same

but the pundits have already decided on the performance properties of the brand and so, are in low demand ...but

for us guys that love the sound ...I want the vast majority to believe that they are loosing power ... put them in a shed ..or even better sell them off cheap to the appreciators ..

Since when was cc a power measurement? All K100s have 1000cc, give or take a few, but some are 90 bhp and some are 100 bhp. There are 600cc bikes with well over 120 bhp on the market. Then there are 1400cc Hardlys with around 65 bhp.
