Hi again 84 k100 rs will offer to start with no choke and no throttle . . it wants to start but some thing is holding it back. . soon as you give it choke or open the throttle it just winds on the starter . . take of the choke and close the throttle again and it seems to almost weakly want to start . . any of you k1 boffins got any suggestions

What is happening when you give a bit of throttle?
Are you cylinders flooded ?
Have you checked your spark plugs ?
The color of your spark plugs should help you to determine if you have too much fuel or too much air.

nothing happens when you open throttle just turns over without firing up , shut of the trottle and it "wants" to fire up but not enough to make it tick over without the help of the starter motor i.e. you got to keep turning the starter and it weakly runs while the starter is running (make any sense )quote]

Cheers ned a lot of good stuff there ,i was looking for the bit about the coil test on the site but coulkdnt find it . . thank you for finding it . . quote]

This is what i was getting and i tried loads of diiferent parts, in the end i took the spark plugs out, all of them, and petrol ran out of them, so they were flooded. Leave them out to dry, turn the engine over for a bit to clear any crap out and leave for an hour or so to dry out.

Also undo the return valve on the tank and remove the spring and ball bearing, mine was jammed closed and so was flooding the engine when i tried to start it.

Now she runs sweet without any problems, this worked for me, dont know if it will be the same for you.

you could be rite about the return valve ,i will have a look at it tomorrow night .. the mrs is complaining about me seeing another woman or somthing (big bird weighing about 250 KG) so i am spending some quality time infront of the tv with my feet up and drinking tea just like all "normal" married couples do

The choke is not a choke but it opens the throttle only in 2/3 stages.
Nothing to do with petrol increase.
An old dodge in the early days was to heat the plugs on the hotplate. May help but if the plugs are not wet I would also go for the return valve and remove ball and the spring.

I see it lets just a little more air in when you open the lever on the bars,

I decided to take the plenum chamber off and clean it out ,it was thick with black oily crud looked like a build up from a crumbling and leaking breather hose getting sucked in the plenum which wasnt conected to the air box . . also emptied the fuel from the pressure valve and opend the tank return valve that badger was on about . . it was clogged so i cleaned it out ,

Put every thing back together again added new spark plugs ,conected all hoses and cables up and tried to start the bike Hey presto . . not a chance ,it didnt want to start .so i will have another go tomorrow maybe theres air in the system or some thing spark plugs were dry i dont know . . regards lads and thanks, im off for some
