hi guys,
Based in Newcastle Australia. I purchaced a 1992 ex police bike with the abs removed and apparently a 98 fuel tank and computer.
Anyways, its getting chopped up and turned into what the young kids call a "cafe racer" and anything coming off it will be sold (i'll post a link to the Gumtree ad soon) May need to call out for advice on any bits i get stuck on - i'm thinking it will be electrics.

Howdy Doom.

Please post a "before" photo of the bike, so the purists can light some incense and rock backwards and forwards while shaking their fists at you in anger! Very Happy

No seriously, post some photos.

"Café racer". Someone has to come up with a better description than that...it truly is overused.

Reckon it's time to start collecting all the cast off tupperware and holding on to it 'cos one day owners of kafe racers will pay dearly to put their bikes back to stock when they realise they are worthless as a kustom.
But what the heck, if ya selling stuff someone will buy it for next to nothing.
Doom, sounds like your bike is butchered anyway, so carry on.
Total purist at heart

Especially when applied to bikes with a combination of clip-on 'bars, knobbed or Firestone ribbed tyres & no front (or rear) mudguard.

Welcome Doom, So a 1992 police special will soon be a Ducati 900SS fairing sort of bike or a clip on's and flyscreen sort of bike??.

There was a tasty K75 at the Kawasaki shop in Cessnock the other day. Full custom, including gauges, looked very different.

Welcome.

Another welkome Doom from just up the valley a bit. Most of the Hunter Valley members on here lean more towards the touring style of riding but not necessarily on traditional "tourer" type bikes.

My own K75 is customised along the lines of an adventure bike so to each his own (although I doubt that the clip on style riding position is going to feel good after 600-800kms in the day which is my norm).

Look out for an opportunity to catch up with any of us. We are a sociable bunch regardless of what people choose to ride (BMW or not).

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome guys. Bought the bike running but with no registration for $1600. so far I've made about $800 selling all your precious "touring" add ons  Very Happy with plenty more to go.
Plan is to have it looking very minimal- everything hidden/ LED lighting/ and pretty much what everyone else on here has already mentioned about bars/ tyres etc. maybe a turbo hiding under the seat.
First mod was to chop the rear frame up and make it so the rear triangle actually looks good with a small seat on it- not weld some steel hoop onto the existing frame and put a bench seat on it!
