Anybody know if the hydraulic line to the remote reservoir (I think it's pre-load) is under pressure?

I want to change the angle of the banjo bolt on the reservoir but don't want to loosen it if it will discharge pressure in the shock.

...but if you ever do need service locally on your Öhlins, I can recommend both KFG Racing (Kung Fu Grip) in Auburn WA and Alyxmoto in Buckley WA on Highway 410. Alex just serviced my R1150RT shockies and KFG did my R1150GS front shockie. All reasonable, competent and timely. KFG will service other brands as well.

Alex had just received his new Swedish Öhlins vacuum pump and I swear the shocks came back to me all pumped up!

The preload adjuster is NOT under the same pressure as the shock body.
The preload adjuster is the hydraulic adjustment of the spring only. If it were me, I'd back the adjustment right out, crack the union 1/8th of a turn and turn it where you like then retighten. Make sure the bike is on the centre stand to take as much load off the spring as possible.

Be careful and you'll be fine.

Agreed, keep the preload all the way backed out. Otherwise, what you will lose if you loosen the banjo bolt too much and fluid escapes, is a certain percentage of your ability to adjust preload. Otherwise, be careful and you'll be, as we say, laughing. This is confirmed by an Öhlins service centre.

Good info. Didn't know there were good Ohlins shops in the area. (Also a good excuse to go ride Windy Ridge.)

Decided to leave it be and made my own new mount for it that doesn't require messing with the preloader banjo bolt.Ohlins question Dsc01314
