Just today I picked up this titled 12/92 US K1100RS which the PO had decided to strip and 'customise' but ran out of time, money and interest. Actually, it was dropped off at my house!
I got two plastic boxes ful of spares, plus two complete sets of K1100RS fairing parts including bracketry & hardware, headlights, etc. It needs a seat and he has chopped the frame rails off, welded up the stubs and painted the frame, swingarm and gearbox. Dig those red-painted calipers! The exhaust isn't cracked and it's a catalyst/O2 sensor model. There's a robust-looking FOX shock on the back with remote, and some sweet Bridgestone BT016 radial tyres over blackened wheels, too. Apparently the alternator is toast. I have spares.
The odometre says just 55,000+ miles...
I attached a battery, plugged in the Motronic, opened the cap and sniffed the fuel (yep, furniture polish), connected up a piece of fuel hose, switched on the key and she fired and settled into an 1,100 RPM idle - no smoke. I see a fun project in my immediate future. I've traded two new Bridgestone T30 EVO GT radials, $50 and a new pair of Black Brand summer gloves (saleman's samples) for the lot. That's about $210 for the goods at my cost. How'd I do?
