Hi Guys,
I have a 1990 K100RS Sonda Special with ABS brakes.
My problem is I would like to know WHY ?? my ABS warning light constantly flashes as a warning as well as the warning light. (middle of instrument cluster lights)
I have a 'reset?? switch on the handlebar cover (alongside the hazard light switch), when pressed it makes the ABS warning light glow constantly as well as the warning light.
I have heard that when you press the reset switch, its supposed to re-callibrate the sensors for the ABS as you ride, ..takes about 5-10klm to 'set' the data.... ??? is this correct. It doesn't do this for me. It just stays on full time after i use the reset switch. If I switch the key off and back on the ABS & war4ning light start the 'flash' again. I have tried to find some data on the ABS systems, maybe they need a bleed as well or something needs to be adjusted??? My brakes work great, but I CAN lock the rear wheel, and I have had the front chattering for a high speed stop, but I don't really use or feel the need for ABS, .. if its easy enough to fix or should I ignore' or disconnect the ABS warning light.
I have only just purchased this bike, before I got it, it was sitting for 2yrs, collecting dust. The rear brake was bled because of insufficient pressure.
Is there an article or some info on the "K"100 ABS system & how to 'adjust / bleed / repair" it.
ALSO
My battery voltage with lights on, @ 2000rpm+ is around the 13.2v - 13.6v ..is this acceptable, I would have thought it should be a bit higher, more like 14v. Lights off is around 13.5v - 13.7v. I have just installed a new battery 400CCA 20Ahr AGM.
ALSO
When I connected up the new battery, noticed a small spark as I finished connecting the Negative to the battery. I realise the clock is a constant source of power drain, but I also heard a relay click in, the Fuel pump relay, (no whirring (priming) just seems that the relay is kept "LIVE" is this correct?? how much drain should i expect over time???
The fuel pump only pumps /primes on ignition start, but why should the relay be kept live, as said, once I tapped the negative terminal to the battery & screwed it onto the battery, the relay became live. Just don't want to come back to a flat battery when i don't use the bike for a few days.....
I have 4 bikes to choose from as well as 2 cars, so it could/ will end up sitting for awhile at some stage.
Any advice would be appreciated, .....
Cheers
