Keep having a very large problem on the k100 84, last week she broke down on the M5 3rd lane lost all power in about 5 seconds so went from 70mph lane 3 to stopping on the hard shoulder. That ended up being the alternator regulator bushes had gone so it was replaced; bike now holds charge especially when riding.

Now the bike since has cut out twice on two seperate rides and refused to start, it will be riding fine then randomly it will just seem like it's stalled. When I go to press the starter button again it attempts to start but it won't do the extra bit for life. Now the fuel pump is active and with bump starting the bike will work again.

So far I've changed spark plugs, checked earths, checked wiring is secure and checked the fuses. I've got the original ignition coils on the bike so not sure if it's them; but doubt they could stop it from running.

Really stuck with this one I appreciate any helpful replies.

Sounds like a dud battery.
Take her for a decent ride and then let the bike rest for 6 to 12 hours (overnight). What does the battery read? It should be 12.5v to 13.0v
With the engine at >2,000rpm what voltage do you get at the battery? Should be around 14v give or take a few v.

Thanks for the reply, the battery is now reading 12.8v that is at rest, on ignition with a bit of revs (headlight on and indicators) it's reading 13.4v. So doubt it's the battery. Can't really risk another long ride as I'm getting fed up of bump starting it.

I've already pulled that apart, cleaned it up and put it back together but I'll check again. I'm wondering if it could be the hall sensor going bad. But I'm not sure on checking or where to get a replacement from.

Well that's not definitive.
13.4v is too low but you shouldn't have your lights on for that test and "a bit of revs" may not be enough... 2k rpm to test for charging voltage.

Check your starter. Brushes may be worn/dirty. The starter motor earths thru the 2 hold down bolts. You can get some corrosion where that beds to the GB casing. The K1100 has an additional earth cable from there to prevent that problem.
Not sure how that would cause the stalling but it may explain the random 'fail to start'. It's possible you have 2 issues.

Hello the starter motor bushes are brand new. The headlight and indicators was to check it under full load. With the bike at 2k revs it reads 13.9volts
