So Im looking to replace the short bars on my k75s with something  bit higher and further back. I measured the bars and they are 22mm . So I ordered two sets of Ebay shops both saying they are 22mm but when I go to fit the bars the control clusters won't go on the bars ?
I measured the new bars and the Both measure 22.4 mm ? so basically I can't fit them .

So has anybody done this and what bars are you using or how do I get around this issue ?

Sounds like there 7/8ths rather than 22mm. I would ask for my money back.

I did read of someone filing a grove but not sure if that's a good (or safe) idea. I have read plenty on here as I wanted to change my bars, it might be worth doing a search in the forum as there's loads of info.

I'd still ask for my money back though! Evil or Very Mad

What he said.

Lots of HBs are sold as 22mm or 7/8 as if they are interchangeable - which may be true in some cases but the tolerances of the K bike perches don't fit on 7/8 bars.

Unless you buy from BMW you usually can't tell for sure if they're really 22mm or not.

I'm pretty sure that Flanders sells real 22mm diameter bars though.

We have that problem a lot. But they are not 22mm and you should go for a refund because they don't fit.

The problem well documented is BMW bars are not same as 7/8th which a lot of bikes take but anyone in the handlebar business would know that.

If you did machine the clusters than they are of no use to go back on the BMW bars you took off and not even saleable.

Thanks chaps
It does appear that I have 7/8 handlebars which have been sold as 22mm. I am contacting the seller see if he will accept a return.
My other option is to cut and add to the existing bars. I would do this correctly as I am a engineer and used to doing things like this .

Not at that price Duck. James Sherlock charges a serious premium on everything and he's not even a bricks'n'mortar shop.

One of the Oz Krew fitted an after market 7/8" pair of bars to a K100 project bike. He overcame the 0.4mm difference by linishing the section of bar where the controls fit until he could fit the controls. Apparently he had no trouble in the area of the clamps.

Keep an eye on this thread as he may identify himself soon and give more detail.

Cheers
